Colt Diamondback, Be Still My Heart.....

Hope to pick it up Saturday. Didn't have the cash on me today, just happened to be going by a few minutes before they closed. It's smaller and lighter than my old 4" blue king cobra.

The new Cobra is basically an updated D frame. I see no reason it could not be configured like the Diamondback. The earlier Diamondback was also a D frame. I'd certainly be in the market.

I could really, really see a 4" .357 mag Diamondback. It would be a 6 shot .357 a bit smaller and lighter than an equivalent K frame. Seems to me there
would be a ready market including me.

I don't think they could safely produce a 6 shot D frame in .357 mag. A five shot might be possible, but would require extensive alterations, which would add to the cost. I would love to see a simple 6 shot .38 Special 4" Diamondback be produced. That way I could quit looking for a decent Model 15 or 67 Smith.

COLT did make the Magnum Carry before dropping revolvers. It was a 6 shot D frame sized gun in .357 magnum.

That and they have the new King Cobra .357 mag 6 shot that could form a nice basis for a a Diamondback in various barrel lengths.

Good afternoon
There is something about those nice older Colt revolvers ! Have owned several over the years and they all were (still are) enjoyable to have in the hand.

I think Colt's missed the boat on the new King Cobra. They should have put a vent rib and offered 2 1/2 and 4 inch versions.

The original KC didn't have a vent rib. One on the new version would have been nice to see....I agree on it needing more barrel lengths, which I figure we will see.

I think it needs adjustable sights.

The Original KC was not a D frame either. But then they went off the reservation calling a steel framed gun the Cobra, since the original Cobra had an aluminum frame. I just think if they are going make a D frame they should make it a Diamondback look-a-like, no matter what they call it. Think six inch .22!

Back in 1970, I had a .38 Diamondback on lay-away at the store where I worked...$88 with my employee's discount. Newly married, going back to college, turned it back. DRAT! Or words to that effect! The new King seems to have a place in my collection, tho...even if I am a Smith K-frame fanboy!

"I actually saw a Magnum Carry. Once"

Had one once (notice past tense). Be nice to have back. Had it tuned by individual in Florida that used to do Colt work at Cylinder & Slide. It was decent but like the action on my new Cobra better. At least a friend has it now so I can visit it. I do remember (about 20 years ago) wondering why Colt did not come out with a version in .357.
