Cowboy Action belt

Going back to the original topic - belts.
I believe in having / carrying backup ammo. If you decide to carry a single action revolver on a normal - through the loops - pants belt, look into a cartridge slide for carrying spare ammo. These slide over the belt like a holster.

I also like carrying spare ammo (for revolvers) in a shirt pocket.
I believe in carrying extra Ammo were ever I go.

Have you ever seen these?

If it ani’t broke, you can’t fix it

Well, I think it's more "if it ain't finished, it needs finishing !!" ( cause they aren't finished in the box).

Point being, as DJ points out, factory springs are "get it out the door" springs. They can eventually be THE enemy of longevity.

Jackrabbit1957 points out making one run "perfect " removes wear / stress.

So, depending on what one deems to be "broke", some would say they're "broke" from the factory . . . doesn't mean they won't run, they just don't run as well as they could. And that is "fixable".

I never met a screw head I didn’t want to turn! lol

anybody else strip there guns for the heck of it?

I'm with ya on that one....... ;)

It started out as a derogatory term, it isn't any longer, hasn't been for a long time.
was it because they had to work the pastors and bring cows? and rich cattle people hated laborers? that’s all I can think about

Cattlemen were called herders and ranchers, initially the term 'cow boys' was applied to horse thieves, robbers and outlaws. Obviously that usage changed over time.

I've pondered on several designs for cartridge boxes and even drew up a few but only made one. I don't really care for cartridge belts.
I like the look, but I hear you about fictional value. A box would be easier to load instead of reaching for cartridges. Kinnda like my trap shell box holder. Box attached to my belt

You're going to pay for a big name but there's several guys that do just as good of work as the big names but don't charge nearly as much.

Keep an eye on Gun Shows. Once in a long while you can find belt and holster rigs for sale..
I picked up a new cartridge belt at the Tulsa Gun Show this past year. I've added a pair of 45 Colt 1873 clones to my collection and needed another belt.

Joining your local cowboy action group, even if it's to go as a spectator might be a source for used gear as well.

Joining the SASS Wire can be a good source for used gear. https://forums.sassnet.com/index.php?/forum/12-sass-wire/

Now if you want a top quality belt it's gonna set you back a bit........

I've got an EP Saddlery belt and holster, got it with the Schofield I bought. Top quality stuff. Like mentioned above, you can find some deals at gun shows too. As far as a hat, if you want a more authentic period hat, the more worn and imperfect, the better. Try Goodwill stores near you. It's easy to re-form an old hat....just get it wet, get it to close to what you want and stick it on your head. Of the 10 or so hats I have, none have been new. The hat in my profile pic was found in a garage under 3 sheets of plywood and a ton of junk. It was flat as a pancake. But....it was a lower quality beaver (the best hats are beaver fur)....I just got it wet, put a pencil roll on the brim and formed the crown with a bit off center crease. Cost me nothing but my time.

I need to check out Goodwill for Cowboy gear! We did have lots of Old Cowboys here in Seattle back in the days

There used to be a Salvation Army online store. I don't know if it still is or not but I bought a 10X Bailey and a 10X Stetson Silver Belly for 30 bucks apiece. The Bailey didn't fit. That was about 15 years ago tho.

I don't have pictures but do have a black gun belt that holds my pair of stainless ROA's. Now to lose some weight.
