Cranky Neighbors

That being said, I think that we will generally avoid shooting there in the future

Hell NO... don't give in and let him win... thats exactly what he wants.

I wouldn't go out of my way to intentionally piss him off, but if i want to shoot, im gonna shoot

Wow, I wasn't expecting this thread to go this long. Anyhow, I still don't feel like I did anythign wrong with the exception of touching off those last 9 rounds. Probably could have gone without that. It was 9 because that finished up the fifty I had and I like to shoot the entire box before finishing a shoot.

To those that say that I am causing trouble for my friend, I called him during all of this and he said "to hell with Rob and keep shooting." He was on speaker phone with Rob and I and the police, so its not like he doesn't know what has happened or is going on. Apparantly though, he has had run ins before with this guy about stupid trivial things.

As far as a "peace offering", I've already thought about that. Haven't quite decided how to go about it though. Bring over something and invite for a shoot? Discuss possible shooting times and compromise? What if he blows up again and starts up saying that I'm to never shoot again, etc? Any suggestions? I'd much rather "keep the peace" but I'm not really one to back down to someone (or my friend for that matter). Called my friend today and he already wants to load up some of the 30rd AR magazines and fire off about 150 rounds or so. I told him that was kinda expensive to just piss someone off.

Since then, we have found dead animals and garbage throw in the driveway and floating in the small pond on the property. Windows in the small hunting cabin there shot out/broken and graffiti spray painted on it. Hunting stands trashed and feces smeared on the rungs of tree stand ladders. Don't take Sherlock Holmes to figure out who's doing it, but since the property is located out in the boonies and is vacant the majority of the time, it's been impossible to prove who's doing it.

Get a game camera. They're like $50 now. There's nothing like a photograph or video.

That goes beyond a "pissy neighbor". It now moves up to possibly Criminal Harassment.

We've done that. Put motion sensors around the cabin also.

Last fall when the incident happened, my son had only had the property about a month. Didn't know my son's new neighbors, didn't want to get off to a bad start, and it was my son's property, not mine....... reasons I tried to be nice to the young hunter. The Bowhunter we found out later is a son of one of the neighbors. Doesn't live with them yet, but still hunts his parents farm and helps out with the crops. Since last year we have gotten to know most all the neighbors around us including the ashhole's parents. They are pretty good folk and are well aware of the problems we are having. They along with the rest of the neighbors have said they would keep an eye out. Without proof we would be foolish to ruin a friendly relationship with them. Sometimes you catch more flies with sugar than with vinegar. Since late last winter, we have had no new incidents. We're hoping it's over. We have also found out from other neighbors that the old guy that owned the land previously had let the kid bowhunt there and that he had taken some nice bucks off it in years previous. We're thinking that the old guy selling the parcel right before hunting season last year may have added fuel to the fire.
