I plan to send this or similar. Any comments are appreciated!

Dear President Bush,

I enjoyed your final debate last night with Senator Kerry at Arizona State University. I think you did a super job of showing how bankrupt the senator’s vision is.

There was only one problem with your presentation as I saw it: the question about the expired Assault Weapons Ban. The Second Amendment is not about hunting – it is the final provision for the People, who delegate power to the Government – not the other way around – to reign in a government that has gotten too big for its britches.

One of your federal judges, Justice Alex Kozinski, of the 9th Circuit, said it best

"The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed for those exceptionally rare circumstances where all other rights have failed -- where the government refuses to stand for reelection and silences those who protest; where courts have lost the courage to oppose, or can find no one to enforce their decrees. However improbable these contingencies may seem today, facing them unprepared is a mistake a free people get to make only once."

The right of the American People to own individual weapons that can enforce the final provisions of our Constitution, no matter how unlikely the need for that may seem, must not be infringed.

Thank you Mr. President, for standing firm and defending our most sacred right as Americans.

Very sincerely yours,

Dear President Bush,
After watching your third and final "debate" last night, it grieves me to conclude you are nearing the end of your first and only term as POTUS. Although I actively supported you in the 2000 election, I am sorely disappointed in your performance not only as CIC, but as our party's nominee. You have consistently failed to articulate your policies, both foreign and domestic, to the American people. You have failed to prosecute the war in Iraq as though you had the intention of actually winning. You project an image I can only equate with Mr. (won't you be my neighbor) Rogers. You have never engaged Kerry's vague elitist pontifications, nor refuted his spurious assertions, nor have you exposed his globalist ambitions. When you took the oath of office, you promised to defend the Constitution and the United States of America from all enemies, foreign and domestic. Yet you fail to defend the borders against illegal immigration and routinely accede to leftist demands on domestic issues. This has, from the beginning, been your election to lose, and you're well on your way.

"One of your federal judges" should read "One of our federal judges." Bush did not appoint Kozinski. Probably Reagan did. He would make a good nominee for SCOTUS, though!

Expect a call from the SS.

Big G....good letter, however be sure to check the punctuation in the second paragraph. I know, pot calling the kettle black, but it IS a letter to the most powerful man in the world.

RileyMc... if you don't have anything constructive to add...

Thank you Mr. President, for standing firm and defending our most sacred right as Americans.

Why end a perfectly good letter with a complete fiction? The sad, sorry, simple fact of the matter is that Bush believes government has the right to prevent commoners from owning firearms simply because they look military. He differs from that Kerry creature only in degree, not kind.

to reign in a government that has gotten too big for its britches.

I'd suggest that the 2ndA is not to protect against big government, rather it is our protection against corrupt government that does not represent the people.

Otherwise, It's a strong and concise letter.

Write your own letter in your own voice with your own puncuation, szpleing and grandma. The important thing is to convey your thoughts to the President. Those are your words, you don't need anyone to edit for you. Stand up amongst the crowd and say what's on your mind, the general thoughts and ideas will come through.

We are a nation of individuals bound together by the Constitution.
Through many voices we speak as one.

BigG,

I disagree with those who say that you should just write it and send it off - I think it is very worthwhile for you to have it reviewed for content, clarity, punctuation, etc. and congratulate you for doing so.

Given the tenuous grasp some letter writers have on punctuation and composition, it is nice to see a fellow RKBA person who demonstrates capability in both areas.

I agree with other prior suggestions, and hope you give them due consideration.

Best regards,

Thank you everybody, for the comments and other stimuli.

REIGN - that damn M$ auto correct got me on that. I know from REIN.
