1) the OP is talking about dating; when did this marriage business enter in?

2) The vast majority of people who hold anti-gun views are misinformed and afraid. If they have an open mind and an opportunity to learn, they learn to like guns.

3) If a girl said she's waiting until marriage to have relations with a man, you would ignore advice to cut her lose, not bother, etc. Because history has shown us that women, regardless of how deeply held the belief is that virginity is sacred, are willing to rethink that belief after 0-3 dates. And I promise you, if a girl is both anti-gun and a virgin, she's given a lot more thought to the latter than the former.

My girlfriend is "pro-gun" in a sense, in that she has no issue with them. She's pointed out that if we got married, firearms would not be a priority, and that any firearm expenses would come out of "left over" cash after the necessary expenses are taken care of.

Not an anti, but not a "raving gunner," though she does enjoy shooting, and has a few "wants" of her own. And she isn't one of the "guns are only for hunting or killing" types.

Maybe I can bait her to tie the knot via a 1911 of her very own

boyz...I have been married for 38 years, we have raised two boys one was a Marine who now does work for a defense contractor, still not sure what is is that he does.


To my point, I was raised around guns. That is the way I was and still am. She married me for better or for worst. She never had been around them or camping for that mater. She still may prefer the Holiday Inn for camping but, she owns her own pistol, and knows how to use it.

Give them time they will come around.

I consider anyone who is purely anti gun to be a worthless idiot. They are simply living in a delusional world that doesn't exist. If they're that dumb about firearms, they're probably dumb, in general.

This does not apply to people who simply don't shoot, don't really know the laws, and don't really care. For example my mother is totally afraid of guns, but she has no opinion on gun laws and doesn't care that I love to shoot.

Amen!!! My niece came into this world smiling and hopefully will leave it so. Due to economic reasons, my sister and I have decided to share households (ok, I am the bum and she is the "sister of mercy")

Anyway, she is a true "Neutral" and can easily be swayed. The true neutrals are easily convinced. Trust me, I know.

What I wonder, is why there are so many guys that LET their women take their guns? Have some balls. Especially if you bring home the bacon/pay for your own guns.

If a woman doesn't like my hobbies or tries to interfere with them, I show her where the door is at and how the knob works.

Think of it from another point of view: Would your wife/girlfriend get rid of all her shoes except the pair she actually wears if you told her to or tried to force it? Doubtful.

Sign a prenup, and make it clear your gun rights are just as important as her shoe rights.

If you force the issue and she's determined enough then she can easily win. All she has to do is call the cops & tell them you hit her. You not only lose your guns you lose the ability to ever buy any more legally even if you leave her.

My GF ,now wife was anti gun. Thats how she was raised ie no exposure to them. So I took her out shooting (think Charlies Angels), Soon she had claimed my S&W 65 as hers, loves shooting her AR. Doesn't care for hunting , but loves eating what I bring home. She is concerned however over the number of things in my collection, only because money is tight right now and I have my eye on a few.
