Desert Eagle owners?

For those of you that own a DE with multiple barrels. What caliber is your most preferred? Also, which configuration do you leave it in for storing? My preferred cal is .357 due to the higher capacity and lower recoil.

I have the .44 mag and the .50 AE. I usually leave mine in the .50 AE configuration since it is the most fun to shoot!

I only have the .44 barrel for mine, but I have been around the .50AE guns. In terms of cost-to-noise, the .44 has got it about right in the Desert Eagle IMO. I was going to get the .50 conversion for my gun until I realized how much it would cost in ammo alone.

I worked it out at .75 cents per round. Maybe my numbers were off, but either way I couldn't justify spending another ~$800 for a conversion that would do nothing different for me (my gun is exclusively for fun at the range).

My dad and grandpa each own a Mk VII .44 Mag. My brother owns a Mk XIX 50 AE. The .44 is a little easier and cheaper to find ammo for and has a little less recoil. But for what you use a Desert Eagle for, I think the expense of the .50 is worth it--just a bigger, more memorable experience. Fireballs. Concussion. Big half inch holes. Yeah!

I will agree that the 50AE is a real "blast" to shoot, 44 mag is not that bad itself, but 357 is the out of the case setup. With the heft of the gun, it tames the 357 enough to be pleasurable to shoot for people of smaller statures. My question was more out of curiosity. Thanks for the responses.

I sold mine a couple years back, but I found other than the .50 to be boring and rather silly; silly in the sense that there are far more compact, lightweight and ergonomic firearms from which to fire .357 or .44 mag.

Sorry to hear that Mach, my DE is purely for fun. I leave compact, lightweight, and ergonomical to most of my other guns.

That would kind of fit anything I bought after my second or third handgun. Only the first couple I bought were for a reason, all the rest are just for fun. There are much better but I own them too!

I only shoot 50ae in mine. Its solely a "fun gun" that my friends and bystanders love to shoot. I have a blast everytime I take it out.

Sold 50 and kept 44 but mostly because I also have revolver to reload for.

Shot both 44 & 50 extensively before buying one in 44 -- with a little less kick to it and lower ammo cost (I reload) I don't think twice of running 200-300 rounds/month through it...of course there is still the cleaning which takes longer than the shooting some days!

I only have the .50 but I own a 357 and have shot many 44s. Both are fun in their own right. However the 50 is unique to the platform. Sure you can shoot other 50 variants (500 sw, 50 GI). But really there are not many handgun platforms that exist that shoot a 50. Reload for it to make it economical. Rainer plated bullets make excellent projectiles. It's pure stupidness, unpractical, and fun. Other guns exist for practicality. Plus, the 50 fireball is just awesome.

My early Mark 1 .357 runs fine on factory ammo but my newer mark 19 .44 prefers a maximum load of 2400.

I plan on adding a .50AE barrel to the 19 and possibly a 10" .44 barrel in the near future.

I have other guns for practical purposes...
