I have an Ohaus 10-10 analog scale that works wonderfully but I like to check analog v digit when setting my powder dispenser.

What’s a good digital scale for under $200.

Why should you have to produce a receipt? If you send it back that ought to be proof enough that you actually have one, somebody paid for it!

I have a Hornady bench scale, works like a charm..been in use now for about 4 years, about $90 when I bought it. I do calibrate it regularly...

Since I didn’t have a receipt I had to return it. I bought it in ‘14.

Nothing’s wrong with my analog scale (manual scale). I just like to compare measurements. Makes me feel better when analog and digital measurements match.
back in the day (20 years ago), I worked my way up in a machine shop to QC lab. We used measuring blocks and gram weights to do calibration. Well, every years or so, I had to mail them out to get recertified. They were never off. You should look to getting a getting a small gram set to check and recalibrate your scale.

Is there anything that isn’t cheap junk from China?

Yes but they are not cheap. There are some really good ones above the price you want to stay under.

That said, you could always just buy a few cheap ones, find one that agrees with your beam scale and return the others or get check weights in the ranges you need and check the scale before you start.

I too have tested beam vs others but don’t always do it. Wouldn’t do it at all with an erratic digital, would be pointless.

back in the days, I worked at many labs doing measurements and QC. My specialty was Laser mythology. I used a laser to measure curve uniformity of micro lens. My point is, you never go wrong with quality measuring tools.

What you really mean is "but I like to introduce error, questionable integrity, and chaos when setting my powder dispenser." :D

It's great to have multiple manuals, but you have to name one as the Primary, all the others are simply for consulting. And it's the same thing with scales. You'll NEVER increase accuracy by pitting a second or third scale against the Primary. It's akin to asking multiple children what they want for dinner. There will never be agreement.

I get it; digital scales are nice to have. When you find a bullet on the floor you can identify where it belongs very fast. But just look at how this scenario worked out the first time. Your "guaranteed for life" scale started introducing error with no warning. A simple "risk analysis" would tell you that you gain nothing from comparing 2 types of scales, yet risk everything.

Just my 2 cents.

With consistent brass and attention you can spot a charge that is off. Particularly if the case fill is high it is easy to see if it looks lower than normal or over charged. Using powders that don’t meter well like unique can exasperate this problem so either way every charge or get a powder that meets your needs with good metering quality. If you can trust your equipment with the proper ingredients then why have it

There were some china knockoffs being sold which were junk.

If the scales are drifting real bad take it apart, There are 2 screws that hold the plastic pan base that may not be tight. These should have a sealant on the heads to base. I took mine apart to clean and had this problem. Just tighten the screws up and it started working normal again. What do you have to loose at the time.
