Do you open carry?

I don't see an up side to open carry over concealed carry. Draws unwanted attention from citizens and police. Makes you a target to someone who wants a gun and they will come hard if they decide to come. If you walk into a robbery or something unexpected it will probably get you killed.

When we carry concealed we look identical to the folks that are unarmed.

For the majority of bad folks with bad intent, appearing unarmed IS calling attention to yourself. You may not be the easy target they originally thought you were once you go to guns, but when they're interviewing potential victims you will stand out as an easy target. ...

That is where situational awareness comes in. It does not matter if you are armed if you are walking around in an oblivious fog.

Head on a swivel and as you scan look folks in the eye. I wear a little smile while I am doing it.

I can recall one approaching, rough-looking fellow in a grocery store parking lot early one morning that seemed to suddenly change his mind about something when I smiled in his direction ... and then focused on him.

I'm not into making public statements and concealed carry is quite sufficient for me.
