Does it have a name yet?

Same here. I've been looking for LRP's for well over a year, every time I'm in a place and they ask if they can help me find something they basically laugh when I tell em what I'm after.

I don't even need that many, I think I could pick up a sleeve of 1000 and have it last 10+ years or more. I'd be happy to find 100 at this point, just want to cut my teeth on reloading but the only thing I want to load is 45/70. But with anything like this, persistence is key. Just gotta keep making the stops and I can usually pad out my supplies in other areas...

I'm pretty sure I've posted this before but, in 35 years or reloading I never loaded anything that took large rifle primers.

Then, in 2020 I decided to load a couple cartridges that took large rifle and, after finding them, I paid what I considered to be a large premium to buy them.

I paid about $13-16/100! for them and, at least at my LGS, I bought them all (2500 divided between standard and magnum) and haven't seen any back in stock since.

My fault for waiting until the worst possible time in recent history to buy them.

I feel very fortunate to have stocked deep on all other sizes and understand that, in times like these, you gotta "pay to play".

It is what it is. If you dont stock up when times are good, you get sucked into the bad times and have to deal with it, or dont.

This time around, its been a little different, and drug out a bit longer than in the past. And, most places this time around, didnt let you order/back order and keep the flow coming as they came in and you came up in the queue. So even if you were well stocked up, if you constantly shoot, sooner or later, things are going to run out, even if you cut back.

Ive paid more than I like recently, for both primers and powder, but they have been somewhat available all along, and if youre willing to deal with the extra cost, be flexible and work around a few things, you can usually keep shooting. Costs more, but, unless something really goes off the tracks, that will come back around at some point, and life goes on. Just start stocking up as they become available and the prices start to come down.

Hopefully, they dont insist on keeping this covid silliness going on.

I wanted to get some LRP to reload for my 45-70. I traded SPP for them. 2000 straight across trade. I have SPP and a lot of people are looking for those.. later I found 7 or 8 hundred LRP that i already had.

I've picked up a couple bricks of 22lr at Walmart but only a couple. I've been looking for primers lrp and srp mostly bit also rifle powders I've seen quite a few at midway and midsouth shooters supply that I use, like imr, and h 4350, been stock for at least a week. Still there when I checked earlier today, font think we'll have to wait too much longer for primers to come back.
