After reading so many threads and comments dealing with the mental health issue and gun control, doctors are openly castigated quite often on THR.

This is a bit of a stretch for gun topic and hopefully the mods will allow it to stand. Dr. Benjamin Carson who grew up in a ghetto and is now the head of neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Medical School stood before Obama and gave him a lecture on political correctness, human rights and a free society.

He spoke about freedom of thought and freedom of expression. For those that disparage medical doctors, this man is a rock star in the medical community and it looks like his courage extends to speaking his mind before the man tearing down the society that allowed Benjamin Carson to rise to the highest levels of medicine from the lowest levels of society. He did standing right by Obama and Michelle.

Once again, a bit of a stretch, but worthy of one that is standing up for the bill of rights. If nothing else, simply watching Obama squirm and try not to show his disdain is worth watching in any case. Hope the mods let it stand as an example of courage and forthrightness standing up for the Bill of Rights and the natural rights of man that is where we derive our right to keep and bear arms. He ends with the story of the Star Spangled Banner and the men who fought through the night. That is the spirit that kept men free 200 years ago. That must be our spirit today if we shall remain free. Once again, watching Obama squirm for the 30 minutes he talked is worth showing. This must be our attitude in the search to keep our freedom. Very inspirational speech from a black man who has risen from the ashes of a ghetto to the top of medicine internationally.

Dr. Benjamin Carson pointed out that Americans were fully literate by the second grade in the 1800's and European scholars were coming to the US to figure out how a young country was competing on equal footing with Europe. If that was only the case today...

Of course, the POTUS didn't clap at any point with the crowd until the very end. Obama started to look annoyed when Dr. Benjamin Carson was criticizing education and balancing the budget, and framing a flat tax system. He tuned out when it came to the healthcare system and started playing with his phone.

What a fantastic and powerful speaker. No teleprompter either!

If you have not seen Ben Carson's speech.

You need to watch it or read asap.

Just wonder how things would be if he was President :D

Why is it always that the people who would go a very good job as president usually are not interested in being president?

People that tend to actively seek power want to use that power to the fullest extent. They tend to have elements of sociopathy as well.

It's because they're usually too honest to win elections and they're not interested in having power to begin with. The people who make it all the way up to POTUS are usually good liars who crave power and know how to "game the system" (as opposed to actually solving problems).

Not to be pedantic, but the specific form of sociopathy they often have is technically psychopathy.

One of my grandfathers was born in 1890 and quit school after the 6th grade. After leaving the farm he worked at a grist mill and then got a job as a telegrapher for the railroad. I'd say schools have changed a little.

I have his sender and receiver, too.

I loved this video posted on my facebook account so my LEFTIST SOCIALIST sister and nephew could see it and as usual never got a response from either of them.

Dr. Carson for President.

You are most welcome. What a fantastic speech right in front of Obama. Talk about courage and determination.

You can tell the Obamas' parents did not raise them to be polite and pay attention when other people are talking. Most people would not tolerate their 8 year old rolling their eyes and playing with a cell phone even if they were just in the audience let alone a guest on stage. Someone should take them "out to the car," if you know what I mean. It is ridiculous.

"If you can concieve of a better life for your future leaders than office-holding, a well-governed society becomes a possibility. For only in such a state will those rule who are truly rich, not in gold, but in the wealth that makes happiness--a good and wise life."
-Aristotle, "Nichomachean Ethics"

The people who make it all the way up to POTUS are usually good liars who crave power and know how to "game the system" (as opposed to actually solving problems).

That's precisely why our system originally secured most power locally, where it could not hide away in the safety of ivory fortresses and issue decrees from on high without consequence. Sadly, events leading up to the Civil War allowed that very thing to transpire, and the outcome of the war itself made the states' subservient status in the republic abundantly clear.

I watched Dr. Carson in an interview with Sean Hannity tonight.

I didn't imagine I could think any higher of the doctor after seeing his speech at the National Prayer breakfast -- but he achieved that in his interview. What a thoughtful, well-spoken, and inspiring spokesman for common sense, decency, and integrity!

Kudos to you, Doctor! clapping.gif JC_clap.gif appl.gif

Actually look up his story
he grew up in the projects
had major anger issues as a kid, actually tried to stab a friend in a rage one time

and turned his life completely around...

His disdain for this gentle and intelligent doctor was SOOOOO obvious.

Many do not understand that Obama has had a silver spoon his whole life. He does not have the type of upbringing that Dr. Carson has. What a contrast.

Joe Biden must be having a bad influence on him...:D

I actually drove by the apartment he lived in and (private) school he attended in Oahu--ain't nuthin' boot-strapped about that guy; he has been groomed since birth. He basically grew up in the same cloistered environment his daughters did.

Great speech and the Truth is back in the 1800 parents were more strict and teachers could whip kids or expel them with out an act of congress. IF I could whip kids today at school like my great grandpa got when he was in school in the early 1900's. Our school was be way better and about 75 out of 400 would be GONE!

Instead of tossing marshmallows at the POTUS, Dr. Carson has ben jamin liberal pie down Obama’s throat. By the looks on Obama’s face, I believe it gave him heartburn. Such men are my heroes.:)

Incredible speech. I really enjoyed his philosophy on how dangerous political correctness is to society and our country. I don't think the White House agreed nor appreciated with his assessment about lawyers as politicians.

It is a damn shame that people like this brilliant man do not lead our country, because if they would simply lead, we would follow.

So true. We no longer appear to have men of principle and courage leading our nation, our states and our towns.

The Tea Party movement did well in 2010 and 2012, but we were not able to motivate enough about the story of freedom. As a Christian, I cannot disconnect from the message by Dr. Benjamin Carson and his faith in God nor do I believe that the nation can return unless it remembers what a faithful marine did at a Hermain Cain presidential rally last year.
