I am in the market for an EDC in 9mil. I have been carrying the glock 19 gen 4 but I just haven't warmed up to it. Recently I have taken to carrying my RIA midsize. I don't have a preferance between all metal and "plastic" pistols. I love my glock 17 and 42. Just curious what you guys and gals would recomend for single or double stack easily concealed pistols. I just got rid if the body guard 380. I have never hated a pistol more.

maybe you can borrow guns from people and try them out and see how you like them.

it might also be that there is nothing really wrong with the gun but the holster is an issue.

I've had positive experiences with the Ruger SR9c, the Taurus PT111 G2 and the CZ 75 compact, though I don't know if they'd all qualify as "easily" concealable.

To me, the G19 is on the large size for a carry gun. Switching to something larger is not going to fix the problem.

I traded a Glock 43 for a Smith M&P 9 Shield. No regrets so far, except it's been over two months and I haven't carried it yet. Then again, I never carried the Glock either - I've carried a .38 snubby for so many years, it's kinda hard for me to change.:)

In a double stack 9mm. I like the CZ P01 and the Ruger SR9c. Both are easy to conceal with the right holster and belt set-up. For a single stack I prefer to go to a subcompact like the Kahr CM9.

Got the sig 320 and 100 in store credit. I've shot the 320 multiple times, I'm good with it. I think part of the problem is I just didn't warm up the 19 for some reason. Now to digure out what to do with the store credit. Thinking a out outting it toward an AR.thank you all for the suggestions.

What about the Glock didn't you like? Too hard to conceal, grip didn't fit your hand, couldn't hit anything with it? Unless you narrow down what you didn't like you've kind of left everything wide open to wild speculation. You say you like the 17, so apparently Glocks aren't a problem for you in general. I'm reading it's just larger than what you're willing to conceal, yet you're still open to other double stacks, so I'm at a loss. Maybe try a G26 on for size?

I've stated in several other threads, that I personally didn't like the recoil of the Glock 43 I had - it hurt my 69 year old arthritic wrists, and its trigger pinched my finger every time it went off. I tried a magazine extension and one of those stretchy rubber things with finger grooves over the handle, but nothing worked. I developed a flinch because I knew I was going to get hurt every time I pulled the trigger.
But my oldest daughter bought herself a Smith M&P 9 Shield about 3 months ago, and she loved it. I couldn't imagine why though, seeing as how her Shield is hardly much bigger than the Glock 43 I had, and my daughter is a real small gal. So I asked her if I could borrow her Shield for a couple of days to try out.
It didn't take "a couple of days." By the time I'd fired a magazine full, I was in love with my daughter's Shield, and I traded my Glock 43 for a Shield of my own that weekend. Because the Glock was a more expensive gun to begin with, and because of the $75.00 rebate on the Shield, I actually got a little money back.
The Shield is just as easy for me to conceal as the Glock 43 was, it's just as reliable, and I no longer have a flinch. The only bad thing is that I'm still getting the occasional jab from my daughter about how she showed up her old dad in choosing a CCW.
BTW - I'm not putting down Glocks. My wife carry's a Glock 42 daily. It's reliable and she's good with it - which show's it doesn't hurt her when it goes off. Besides that, to me my Glock 43 looked like a more solid, better built gun than my Smith M&P 9 Shield. The Glock 43 just recoiled differently, that's all. It hurt me. The Shield doesn't.:)

Yep, sounds like the G43 is your winner. If you can handle the G26's width, that would be a great option.

For my D2D life a G43 is way more comfy. I like the LC9 too but the G43 is a better balance of carry/being shootable. If your G42 feels good, so will the G43.

Kahr CM9
Ruger LC9
G43
G26
CZ 75B RAMI (lil heavy and bulky)

Nope, gotta disagree with that TN Outlaw. My wife's G42 doesn't hurt me or my wife when it goes off. The G43 I had did hurt me every time I pulled the trigger. A G43 is a 9mm, a G42 is only a .380. Even my new Smith M&P 9 Shield, which doesn't hurt me, still kicks harder than my wife's G42.

Honestly, my accuracy with it didnt make me happy. I shoot expert with Marine Corps M9's so its not that I don't know, how to shoot pistols. It was the trigger for the most part. I'd rather have a gun I shoot well straight out of the box then have to dump more money into and hope I like the trigger job, and would have had to upgrade the glock sights as well.

Well there's your answer. Get a 92 compact. It's heavier than the G19, but I think it's about the same bulk.

Ever considered any of the traditional DA/SA 3rd Gen S&W 9mm pistols? I'm partial to the 3913 (8 rd single stack) or the 6906 (12 rd double stack) for every day carry, and rarely am without one or the other. Either is comfortable (for me) when carried IWB, OWB, or even in a belly band holster. Can usually find them for around $400 or so.

Or a PX4 Compact.

Ernest Langdon has done a bunch of work with the PX4 Compact over the past couple of years. You should be able to find his comments on the gun with a google search. He's developed, with Beretta and Robar, the PX4 Compact Carry.

I just meant fit and feel to your hand, not so much shooting it. I posted before i seen u get bit by it when u shoot.

Does the G26 feel any better?

Kahr. Go shoot one if at all possible.
S&W 3 gen, but not as easily available. The alloy framed version is lighter.
SIG P320 compact.

Not everybody goes with the most commonly available gun on the market. The Chevy smallblock had its issues, too.

The Lady brought a S&W M&P 1.0 9mm in April. It came with APEX trigger kit and Tru-Glo Fiber Optic sights. All I can say is the APEX trigger kit is GREAT!

Daughters were both home last week so we made a trip to the range. Among the guns was The Lady S&W M&P 9mm. Daughter #1 had only shot a handgun once before and sprayed her shots all over the target. She looked at me like I was crazy when I told her I would have her putting her shots into the black circle on a Bullseye target. She was a good listener and followed my instructions. I soon had her putting her shots in the black and she enjoyed shooting the M&P so much she asked if she could shoot some more which she did.

Daughter #2 had her Ruger SR9c. She fell in love with the trigger on the M&P and quit shooting her Ruger and did most of her shooting with M&P. I predict either the Ruger is going to get a APEX trigger kit or a S&W M&P with a APEX trigger kit is in the future.

All together we shot over 600 rounds of my handloads using 115 gr. FMJ and 4.4. grains of W231 without any malfunctions. Most of them were either in a Beretta 92FS and the S&W M&P. I am not giving up my Beretta 92FS as my edc but I now recommend the M&P 1.0 9mm. The grip can be adjusted for small hands and the APEX trigger makes it easy to shoot and train on.

However all of the females have small hands so the M&P 1.0 is the better choice since I installed the size small grip adapter. The size of the grip on the Shield may not be a issue.

The Glock is most definitely NOT a more solid, better built gun. It is a dated design that rides mainly on it reputation.

I've never shot a G26, but with the G26's slightly fatter handle, I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't hurt me like the G43 I had did.:)

Buy a can of mace and a whistle i guess :D

Idk, but if i see something that might work for ya ill be sure to let you know. Sorry for your troubles.

I love shooting my Ruger LC9s Pro... trigger is WAY better than any other single-stack subcompact I've fired. Give it a shot ;)

Interesting that your womenfolk all liked the M&P... after trying lots of different handguns, that was my wife's selection, as well (M&P 9c, though it has the stock trigger). I don't remember if she has the small or medium grip installed, but it definitely fit her hands better than my CZs. I expected she might like the single-stack Shield, but she actually preferred the compact version of the double-stack M&P over the Shield (which is why it's best to let people pick what feels best for themselves). :)

If you like your gun, but don't like carrying your gun, I'd try a different style holster and also a better belt. I can't stress the belt enough. I didn't believe the belt thing myself for many years, but a purpose built gun belt with a steel core is night and day different ('specially for older guys that suffer from lack of butt!).
I've been in an Alien Gear belt for the past year and love it. Will be getting another in black for my birthday this year. I'm not recommending all the Alien Gear stuff, but I do recommend the belt:
