Firearm shame

If you shame someone for the brand or type of weapon they possess....
You are obligated to buy them a brand or type of weapon that will remove the shame .

In this new world( the doomed one) ..feelings are the only thing that matter .

Where is my new gun.....I am Entitlted...........

Am I the only one that does not see the high point carbine as a range toy but a very capable pistol caliber carbine at a very low price.

I see a lot of value for the money.

Shame me for the gun I shoot? I guess I don't get it. Some razzing sure. That happens with buddies all the time on everything from girls to brand of truck driven to football team you root for. Either they are snobs or the OP needs thicker skin.

I have gone through a god-awful lot of mixed-quality hardware, and not in a single case given a first - let alone second - thought about what others might think of my choice.

My ego is so great that I am absolutely certain that any opinion they might have is inferior to mine.

On the other hand if they happen to agree with me... :D

Don't let the maroons stifle your enjoyment. Let me tell ya, Hi Points are reliable shooters. Ugly as sin but they go bang every time. The only thing I've run across with them are the magazines. They need to be fully loaded for a few days to break 'em in.

I would like to own a 9mm semi carbine. I'd pick the Ruger and get shamed for that j/k. As has been said: unless he wants to out the cash down for you to get something else, get what you want and have fun. Besides, it's the ammo, not the gun in this case that will bankrupt you!!!

"Apart from falling all the way down the ugly tree ..."

I guess I should be one to talk. I own a Glock. Not the prettiest thing around but it works. The same can be said about Hi Points at a much lower price. I was tempted to purchase one of their 9mm carbines a while back but the older models are difficult to find in my area.

I've no interest in owning a Hi Point, but I've heard lots of good about them and have an acquaintance who swears by one of them. It was the only gun he could afford after a divorce, he shoots it well and it's given him very good service. At this point even though he could upgrade he has no desire to do so. He actually takes perverse pleasure in out-shooting many folks who make fun of his cheap gun.

For myself, there's NO pretty polished blue and fancy wood in my safe. In fact the only wood besides laminate is a couple sets of wood grips on some revolvers. The only "fancy" in it is my FA M83 that I traded three good .44mags for. Everything else is stainless steel/matte finish, plastic, laminate or even camo. My go to guns are plastic wonder 9's, LCR's, AR/Tavor & 10/22's. My "high end" shotgun IS a nice Browning O/U.......dipped in camo from head to toe. I DO have a taste for the finer things in life, but my idea of finer things as far as shooting is concerned is a Rock River Match AR, that camo Browning or a good quality optic like an Eotech or similar.

I am kinda snobbish for myself in that I don't want to own any low end weapons or optics, but I have no problems if thats what YOU chose to use. Especially if you shoot it well. :)

I would kinda like to have 50-round drum magazines for my HP carbines, I think those would be just dandy!

I really don't care what others shoot and would never shame someone if a Hipoint is all they can afford, it's just classless and rude. At the same time, I don't particularly care for being called a snob or idiot because I prefer to avoid cheap guns for my own purposes. This is also an open gun forum. If you solicit opinions, you are guaranteed to get some you don't agree with. No one is here to tell you what you want to hear.

I'm pretty sure my $450 SR40-C can shoot the same group as a $1200 Kimber 1911. I personally don't see the point in paying over $1000 for any pistol. I guess I'm kind of snobbish on the other end of the scale, lol.

The most expensive gun I own is the S&W Sport 5.56....$640 out the door.

I've never paid more than $500 for any pistol.

I've heard it all from 'that's JUST a .22?' to 'why are you shooting one-handed'?

Or your 1911 is inferior to my Glock or vice versa.

As for brands, well I like Pardini.

I've heard a few over the years, who would waste their money on revolvers, how could I possibly have fun shooting only .22lr, why spend money on commie guns

I work 50+ hours a week, get paid for 40, exhausted during my free time, I don't give a rip what someone thinks about how I spend my dollars.

Why does it have to be an older model?

I have given a good friend of mine a good ribbing about his Hi-Point carbine in 9mm, and I have also tried to buy it off of him. If they made them so they took G17 mags, I'd have one stashed in every room of the house, man they are great PCC.

I also own a Hi-Point in .45 that I purchased from a friend for $50. It sure is a hoot to shoot, and it will certainly put a .45 Gold Dot where I need at social ranges. Not bad for the price of a nice dinner for two.

Meh, buy what you like. I am partial to my cheap Russian shotguns made by Baikal. I get funny looks shooting trap, but they always go bang when I pull the trigger (and that includes in the snow at elevations above 9,000 feet at some pretty nasty temperatures) and if I miss it is not the guns fault.

this. I loves my baikals. best value I have ever found in a firearm. and I fire the mp153 more than anything else I own. several 1000's of rounds a year, and it never fails.

so yeah, buy what you like and don't be ashamed.

Hipoints from my xp = kinda lousy trigger but the dang things work. and work great at that.

Go buy it and enjoy it. I have friends that have them and they
love them. The only downside is that they are a little tough to
strip down and clean, but for that price; go for it.

Kimber. Shameful rookie garbage mistake. That money could have put me far more than half way to a Les Baer during that time.

I've tried to buy a Mosin Nagant , but can't pronounce it. Counter fud just looks at me like: :scrutiny: We'll it's kinda nice having at least one store where they think I'm a newb still.
