Made some new .44-55 Walker brass for 'Thumper,' my Colt Walker (reproduction) cartridge conversion, using .460 S&W brass. Much, much easier than making it out of .303 British, the original 'donor cartridge.' I decided to break-in the new cartridges with Black Powder.
The load is a 200gr. heel-base .451 LSWC over 55 grains (by volume) of FFFg black powder with a Large Pistol Primer. Recoil was a sharp jolt, but not at all unpleasant. The gun's 3-1/2lb. weight really takes the sting out of recoil. The report was much sharper than expected; I anticipated a BOOM but got more of a 'crack.' Here's the video-
I need to shoot more of these things, maybe chrono them and see what they are doing.
