If that were the case, then everyone would only own one single caliber.
A lot of us more seasoned shooters have reduced calibers down dramatically for ease of logistics.
Once you have that realization you tend to only buy guns radically different from ones you already own but in common calibers if possible. I've been where you are. You will quickly become bored with a "fun gun" only slightly different than the ones you're already bored with.
Live a little, buy something REALLY different.
