Garmin Xero C1 Pro Chronograph

Caldwell has one coming out, looks to be like the lr. It's under new at the top

This particular launch doesn't seem to make sense, $200 price increase to the old version, same price and same features as the LR-LX and Garmin, but this version is the same size as the old version, remaining ~2x as big as the Xero or LX. We've seen wider distribution of the LabRadar in recent years, when they were in production, while manufacturing and distribution doesn't appear to be any issue for Garmin already, so I think when someone can see a Xero, LX, and Velociradar sitting on the same shelf for the same price, eh, I'm not sure I could be convinced that the average consumer buying a $450-600 chronograph will think the huge green doofus makes sense.

there's plenty of room for competition.
Yep

At $50 less than the Garmin, can't say I would go that route, but I wish them well and maybe out in the wild it will be less.

I think that’s going to be the key. The old version of the Velociradar was $299 when the LR was $450-500, and pre-Xero. So it was a choice between the V3 or the Caldwell at the $300 mark, and the Caldwell kinda made sense.

At a $50 gap, eh, I don’t think it makes sense. In the absence of the Garmin, Caldwell’s distribution and retail pipeline against the LR meant more casual consumers could find one on a shelf so they had some market penetration. But Garmin is in the same channels now, and LR is growing into more…

At $350-400, maybe $450, with the LX and Xero at $500-550, I think the Caldwell fits competition.

Just back from the range. Haven’t processed the data yet, but no discernible difference in Xero performance with the Gray Ops cover on or off. I was shooting factory 6.5 Grendel ammo.

No evidence here that the cover makes a discernable, much less statistically significant, difference.
Used it with and without cover. 5 shot groups. 204 Ruger. The low 3908 shot on the without cover group was the difference maker.

I agree with you, 3 FPS is fine with me(could be reverse next time). Discernible difference could be subjective. Just thought I would post the data.

I do not have the opportunity often to get frivolous and buy something I normally would not for myself. I have such a situation now. 3-4 months ago I would have thought about a Labradar, but these days is there any reason I should not get the Garmin ? I’ve not read all 12 pages here but I did not see any complaints in the half dozen pages I did read. I trust a lot of peoples opinion here and the reviews seem spectacular. I have experience with other Garmin products and always had great luck with them. I also assume they are $599 everywhere. I’ve looked 3 or 4 places and they are all same price. .

Check with Bruno’s , they have free case as long as they last and free shipping.
I just went out to the shop a grabbed a few things I wasn’t using to sell and came up with the money quite easily.

Quite often technology products are replaced just because the new technology is better.
Such is the case with the Gamin Xero. Way better. For me it was:
- Ability to offload the data for use elsewhere.
- Ability to use indoors.
- Ability to set up super quick & a tiny footprint.
- A known to be good worldwide company behind it.

No way, my ballistic pendulum is way more reliable... :neener:

I haven’t taken mine out testing ever. Hadn’t had time with my heavy travel schedule. Be back from Germany this week and three weeks to my next trip will give me time to test things out. Glad everyone has been having good experiences so far. Wonder if it will record vehicle speeds.

Yup!!!

One of the fellows in my squad yesterday brought Hornady factory "blem" ammo to shoot.

He just set the Garmin down next to his rifle on the first stage and got numbers.

Rascal won the match, shooting blem Hornady Black ammo. I didn't even know there
was such a thing.

The point being, it's stupid easy to use. We can easily get numbers in spots/places we couldn't before.

How’d you shoot?
