Not surprisingly, the LGS sold out quickly. I'm going to hold off for now and watch for another deal.
I have a Gen 3 17 & 19, a 19X, and a Gen4 21. Everybody makes holsters for these guns, so every one is carryable. I like shooting all of these guns, and these are all keepers. I had an early Gen4 22 and I hated that gun.
If I only had a Glock 19 then I’d want a Gen4 21 to complement the nine, since it’s a full size gun and a .45ACP and (IMHO) everybody should have a full-size .45ACP. If Glock ever decides to release a Gen5 21SF, I think they will sell tons of these.
I was lucky enough to end up with a G19 and G17..both gen 4..I shot both and the G17 fit my hand better, even with a G17, 17r magazine in the G19. Yes, it's easier to CCW a 19, but I had a G26 for that. Traded the G19..

True, which why there will probably never be a Gen 5 G21SF as the base-line Gen 4 and on G21 should all be SF dimensions.Correct me if I’m wrong, but the gen4 21 without any additional backstraps attached is the same size as a gen3 21SF.
Now you have plenty of time to research and try a 17 for yourself before deciding.

I would do on a 26 since pinky hangs off but for me the g19 grip is long enough so adding a xgrip would only be cosmeticExactly the same carry setup I have..short barreled G19...
19X or G45 - are models that you should try before purchase. I shoot 19X better than G17 Gen4I have a Gen 5 Glock 19 which I like well enough. My LGS sent an e-mail out today and has a good price on a Gen 5 17. I've had the itch to pick up the 17, but the practical side of me is thinking that it's pretty much a duplicate of the 19, except it's a little bigger. Does the 17 bring anything to the table that the 19 doesn't that I'm not aware of? I don't shoot competitively and this would be a range gun only.

But notably the difference between the g4 17 and the 19x/G45 as they relate to shoot-ability are the 1. Finger grooves and 2. Sight radius. The first is totally user preference and with the second the shorter sight radius of the 19x and 45 could only hurt.
Other things that make the 19x/45 more potentially accurate than the g4 17 are 1. The different bar geometry and resultant trigger feel, 2. The marksman barrel with tighter chamber and traditional lands/grooves. Both of those would be present on a G5 G17.
I think the best case for the G45 is for the person belt carrying OWB frequently, (think police duty gun where interference with vehicles/seats might be a perceived problem), particularly when used with an optic which negates the shorter sight radius. Or for people with a bunch of G19 holsters who don’t want to rebuy for their new pistol
In short, if shoot-ability/accuracy is your goal, I would have a hard time arguing for a g45/19x when comparing to a gen5 17.
