Which and why would you choose the XD45 Mod2 or the Glock 21 ? This is for a carry gun and range gun and pretty much a "do all" polymer full size pistol in .45ACP . Thanks for any information.
BOTH are excellent firearms. I own one and voted Glock 21, but I also own an XD Mod 2 compact 3.. in .45ACP and it's a very good gun.
I would prefer the XDm over the XD Mod 2 personally. If you go XD, look into the powderriverprecisions modifications if you want to improve the trigger. I found my XD had a mushy trigger and they solved that for me.
I own & shoot a Gen4 G-21 but I’ve shot XD’s in various calibers, and these are good guns. I’ll keep my Glock, but if you test drive both guns & prefer the XD, you’ve made a good, informed choice.
I voted Glock 21 because I prefer Glocks. I think the XD is also a good gun, but Glocks are what I use. Personally, I think both are a bit big and heavy (especially loaded) for carry.
As others have said I'm not a huge fan of the XD grip safety, but that could be because I'm used to glocks. I should mention that I don't own either one but have shot both briefly. I do own a G23 gen 3 and dont have any complaints with Glocks in general. If you can get used to the ergonomics then they're hard to beat for what they are imo.
The XD has a higher bore axis than the Glock, thus it feels less controlable in rapid fire. I also dislike the grip angle of the Croatian creation. And as others have stated, the grip safety is annoying.
