My police trade-in arrived this morning and I just returned home with it. Let the experiment begin.......

Still not all that happy with the grip but it doesn't feel as bad as the 19 I last handled. My major complaint isn't so much that it's boxy feeling (this one doesn't as much) it's the bump on the back and the finger grooves are a little on the small side. I seem to remember a vid of someone grinding down the finger "rises", "groove separators"?
Other than some apparent holster wear it looks good and the bore is bright. It came with two mags and I may have to get an extended mag release. I have to use my off hand to release the mag and it is a bit tight. Has a set of Trijicon 3 04 sights on them but if the dots are supposed to glow, they don't. The trigger isn't bad at all.
I've also seen a vid where the rear grip bump is cut off and a flat one is put in it's plate.

So far not as bad as expected.

Nice to see. Remember, the plastic fantastic is more of an appliance than a work of art. The good news, it goes bang every time the go switch is mashed. The bad news, nothing says embrace me like a 1911 does for me. It is a utilitarian tool.

If the Trijicon lamps are dead (check in a dark room), the can be relamped. I never have done that, so I do not know the cost. Give Trijicon a call. Good product and people!

The reason for this experiment is I've always wanted a Glock but in the past could never get past the grips. So I'm trying to get past the grip negative bias I have and appreciate it for what it is. Yeah, utilitarian, I get it......... That argument has no affect on me besides, being an artist of sorts I prefer artistic......... Mostly. Also it will keep the Glock fanbois from foaming at the mouth for a minute or two if that's at all possible........ ;) :neener::p

That's supposed to be funny so everyone just smile and not pop a vein in your forehead.

It's ugly, but it works and is relatively cheap. Your hand will conform to any shape you place in it. The complaints about the grip angle, the boxy shape, and the finger groves are problems inside our heads that can be overcome.

I don't particularly like Glocks, but I have several and they just do what they need to do. This has become my favorite. I had a G19 stolen a few years ago and bought a replacement. I eventually had the stolen gun returned and ended up with 2 G19's and decided to chop the frame to G26 length and grind the finger groves off one of them. I didn't see any reason to have two identical G19's (other than the color).

I figured I couldn't make it any uglier and find it darn useful. I can use any Glock mag including those holding 10, 12, 15, 17, 19, and 33 rounds. As a carry gun it is right concealable with 10 or 12 round mags or I can use it with the bigger mags as the situation dictates.

You should try that with your new G22. You don't have as many options for mags, but you can use 10 round G27 mags, 13 round G23 or 15 round G22 mags. And I think there are some aftermarket 40 caliber mags holding more than 15. Come on man, you know you want to do it. No Risk-It, no Biscuit.

I put an extended mag release on my G27 and it really did make mag changes easier.....then I shot it....OUCH! 2 magazines in and I was done. That extended mag release cut into my left (support) hand. Out came the extended mag release and in went the original. Some upgrades aren't.

I'm trying to get the night lights to glow, powerful (tactical) flashlight. Tain't working yet......... Ummmmmmm, I still have that nail polish........

Thanks for the heads up. Maybe a thin coat of Plasti Dip on the extended or a heavier coat on the stock release.

LOL. No. You can get those for around $70 on line. Thats what I paid for the last 4 sets anyway.

Thats about the cheapest youre gonna pay for night sights.

Nail polish is good in the day time though. :)

I found some Truglo Tritium for $58. But in the meantime the front sight dot suddenly and mysteriously turned bright orange. I blame gun fairies........ :what:

I had a similar attitude to Glocks, and did much the same when I stumbled into a trade with a Gen 4 21 I just couldn’t resist.

Spent some time with it and it turned me from a Glock “hater” to a Glock enthusiast.

Give it some time, learn it and you might be surprised. Though, even though I quite like Glocks, I don’t care for Gen 3 grip texture or the finger grooves on the compacts (19/23 etc). Gen 5 work better me.

Unfortunately Tritium night sights do have a shelf life and only last so long. The average is about 12 years. TruGlo brand tritium sights will average around $55 per set.

Some guys like fiber optic sights and those can be found cheaper in most cases. I personally don't care for them, especially red fiber optic front sights.

Unlike some of the ‘glow’ on wristwatches that require to be ‘charged’, tritium glows naturally without charging. If they do not ‘light‘ in a dark room, they have died. Call Trijicon to see what the cost is to replace the lamps.

The warranty on my night sights has expired. Can I get them recharged?

Tritium can not be 'recharged', however, we can replace the lamps for a nominal fee. Please contact our Customer Service Department for return and payment instructions or submit a Return Authorization Request by clicking here.

Thanks I'll keep that in mind. Unfotunately this is going to go rather slowly, after buying quite a few "toys" and accessories over the last couple of months I'm on a clear broth and bread diet for a while...........

I prefer the night sights, but for guns without them, a bit of flo orange nail polish works great if you want a quick reactive pick up. And at least on a target with a dark background, youll still have a good aiming reference. Nail polish is cheap too. :)

If you dont have the shakes, you can paint around the dot and still have the three dots. I find them to be quicker and easier to use out to about 10-15 yards or so, and dont start to get a traditional sight picture until about then.

Not sure if they have gotten the FO sights any more robust these days, but the set I tried was pretty fragile and the rod on the front sight kept breaking.

Everything anymore seems to be about drama. Just mention Glocks, and things just seem to automatically go to the next level. :)

Maybe you should buy an AK too. That should calm things down.

It's not just Glocks, super fanbois of any brand/model can't take anything even perceived to be negative about their chosen god gun. It's universal though, crosses over all aspects of our lives.......... :ninja:
