Glocks Rub Me The Wrong Way

I remove the lame serrated trigger, and use a smooth Glock trigger, and I flush cut the trigger.

Then I round the right side of the trigger frame. Usually start with a 45 angle and then round it. Most tuners just undercut the trigger guard which only makes Glock knuckle worse.

Add a large beavertail backstrap and a slim Agency Arms magwell, and I'm in heaven.

USPSA limited is where the real fun is at. Don't miss out on that. Forget GSSF, production, or Ssp. Stock pistols and tight rules, are no fun.

IDPA Esp and Ccp, ain't bad either, but it just doesn't have the twists and turns of USPSA limited. It's just what I shoot when USPSA isn't.

I like the drama that unfolds from greatly different pistols, calibers, and mag capacities. Classes where everyone shoots the same thing, the same exact way, are boring as heck.

I did not say they were not "popular" or they do not sell like hotcakes. I said they were designed by someone who is not a shooter. Gaston Glock is not a shooter. Do you know what his background is and what he did before he came up with his pistol design? He made curtain rods. If the Yugo became the biggest selling car in the world - I would not own one. Would you? I mean it's the biggest selling car in the world so it must be great right?

Yeah and space shuttles were not designed by astronauts, but might be by some brainiac engineer who put himself through MIT by flipping burgers at McDonalds. Again what is your point?

No, I would not own a Yugo, they were poorly designed and unreliable. I fail to see the comparison.

I’m not adding anything to the OP question with this post but I’m failing to find where you are either as this is about GSSF competition.

To @alfsauve have you tried different back straps to so that you can try adjusting how much trigger finger without negatively effecting your accuracy?

A larger backstrap with a high grip should help place your trigger finger placement in a higher position to avoid the rub.

I would rather modify the gun than modify my finger with tape or glue.
I've been around competitive shooting events all my life and have seen some pretty crazy modifications on comp guns.
Do what you have to do to keep from having pain or you shooting will suffer. You will eventually develop a flinch.
I could elaborate, but you get the idea....

Too many nice guns to settle for a gun that does not fit

And shot by 10’s of thousands who are. What’s your point?
A very few of us agree with him to wit, bill of goods, emperor’s new clothes, bamboozle, and so on. They say, “You can’t argue with success.” They are wrong.

Before anyone gets wound up about it, let me stipulate I am an old curmudgen. Jousting at windmills is one of my principal pleasures. Not trolling...just having a little perverse fun. ;)

I’m not even that big of a Glock guy, I’m a bigger Walther guy than that of Glock. I’m not getting wound up over anything, I just think it’s funny the comments on putting down Glock and Gaston as well as the comments on “there are too many good guns out there to settle for one that doesn’t fit.” These comments in a post about helping a person adjust or find the right Glock for GSSF.

I don’t know if everyone knows or not but GSSF stands for Glock Shooting Sports Foundation, which requires the use of a Glock handgun. So anyone suggesting doing anything other than with a Glock in this thread is just noise, whether one likes Glock or not.

No, not noise, just opinion, so excuse me. Why not just find another event. As a competive runner since high school and a later a coach. I cannot imagine a race where every one had to wear the same shoe. And Please, NO I was NOT bashing the Glock. I would feel the same way if there was competition shooting just YOUR Walther. If the gun does not fit, then find another event. Sorry if you do not like that.(not really).

I shoot glock more than anything. I do undercut my steel shooting guns for a slightly higher grip. No trigger ever hurt my finger though, and I've never changed a trigger, only connectors and springs.
My 226, and 220s pinch my finger fat (and I have long skinny fingers) behind the trigger though. Not a common problem but everyone is different. My 6920 also plucks beard hair when I shoulder it and none of my others do, even though a few have the same stock. Strange things happen.

Fyi, the only yugo I ever knew of locally had 350k miles on it and got 60 mpg. It didn't have the optional heated bumper for pushing unfortunately. Lol. I might buy one if cheap enough.

I read a lot about it on the usp but mine have never done anything to my finger. Only the 220 series. And my three most fired guns are glock 22, sig 226, and usp. I still like the sig but would pass it up for a glock when taking a high round count course just because of it. Different bodies have different issues I suppose. Ive let many people shoot my sigs and not one other person has ever mentioned being pinched so I know it's pretty rare. Maybe the ops hands are the one in a million that have this problem.
Maybe try a glock 20 and see if the bigger version does the same?

I've had prolonged sessions shooting full power 10mm through my Glock 20 in cold weather make my trigger finger sore. Something about the trigger safety almost puts a "dent" in the pad of my finger. Had a problem with slide bite until I added an aftermarket beavertail. Also had a problem with the magazine release dropping the mag on me in recoil when shooting with gloves on. I shoot left handed because I am left eye dominant and my trigger finger was brushing the mag release when I shot with gloves on. I used the little file in my SOG multitool to file down the mag release a little and that problem went away.
I walked into a local pawn shop once and the man behind the counter was quietly sitting on a stool with a Dremel stippling the grip on his Glock. People have problems with finger grooves or texture or whatever. There is no reason why you should be forced to endure something uncomfortable or painful in a Glock. There is too much aftermarket support. And it is too easy to take a Dremel to it and make it yours.

[Didnt know if this should go in the current gun hack or in the accessories forum, so I just started a thread here.]

I've owned a G17 in Gens 2,3,4 & now 5. I used them to compete in GSSF matches. They have all rubbed the bottom of my trigger finger raw. A local smith specializing in Glocks destanfully told me I was gripping it wrong. The Glock armorer at a match said he'd never heard of anyone having this problem. My hands and fingers are average. No other semi does this to me. (Includes, XDs, M&Ps, Sigs, 1911s, Shields, Rugers.....)

So to protect the finger I've tried all manner of tape and band aids. They help but are not satisfactory. Last night I bought some liquid band aid and the light bulb went off. After I got home,of course, not before I had spent my money.

Two coats of instant glue. Dries quickly, super tough. Haven't done live fire, but dry firing seems good.

I hesitate to take the file to the trigger or trigger guard on th G17 because it's not clear why this happens and whether removing some material will help or hurt.

How about a shooting glove? You can remove the glove covering from unaffected fingers if you want as well.

Until I started this I didn't know about people having trouble with their third finger. The only gun I had a problem with that was a T/C in a heavy caliber. I made a leather "ring" for my 3rd finger which fit in the gap between the grip and trigger guard just perfectly.

Once again, you missed the point.

When Zerodefect said "That's why they're about the only thing keeping up with 2011's and CZ Tso's in limited. But I'm betting that you've never seen that," he wasn't discussing the Glock's popularity, but rather its performance. Glocks, high capacity 1911s (2011s), and CZs dominate competition shooting because they are the designs that allow people to get on target fastest. It is a performance issue. Not a popularity issue. The only pistol design that can keep up with high dollar customized 1911s and CZs in competition is the Glock. So comparing the Glock to a Yugo doesn't really work unless the Yugo is the only car design that can keep up with Porche and Ferrari.

Riiight.

That's why they're about the only thing keeping up with 2011's and CZ Tso's in limited. K

Is that why the best Glock shooter in the world, arguably, runs a lead filled light carcass in Limited on his 24?

I don’t know what that even means. Some help here.

Robert Vogel = Likely the best Glock shooter in the world. With countless titles under his belt. Runs a hollowed out WML filled with lead to keep up in Limited. The USPSA class that Zero alluded too.

I’m honestly not doing this to aggravate you, but what is a WML? And what do you mean “keep up”? Have pity, man.
