Got in a wreck today

I realize that police officers are not robots, and I wasn't offended at all, this was just the first time this has ever happended to me and i wasn't really expecting it, actually i'm kinda glad he didn't care, less of a hassel for me. All in all everything was O.K.

he would have been more 'snappy' with you if he would have found it.
When you run into a cop who's having a bad day, do everything you can to make things easy on him, and apologize for making them be there in the first place...they usually come around after that and start treating you like a fella human being rather than just some nuisance that's giving them more paperwork.

In Oregon, the LEOs generally run your plate before pulling you over. When they do they get a code informing them that the registered owner has a CCW. On several occasions I have been guilty of minor infractions (11mph over limit etc.) and had a cruiser come up on my tail and I see the LEO on the radio reading my license plate. I drop to the speed limit and place both hands on the top of the steering wheel where they are visible from the rear. In two cases the LEO must have gotten the CCW response and actually waved at me through the window and pulled off in another direction, in the third case the LEO was either bored or curious as he flipped on the overhead red and blue lights and pulled me over. When he got to the window his first words were "where is it and what is it" I chuckled and he burst out laughing. We had a chat for a few minutes, he examined my pistol and told me to have a good day as he walked back to his unit and drove off. I have a deputy sheriff who must live a few miles from me as on several mornings we wind up on the highway into town together and that turns into an all out road race. He drives a Sheriffs Office Camaro and I'm in my SAAB turbo; you can imagine the looks on the few drivers on this rural highway who observe our shenanigans.

I do it more delicately, if necessary

Depending on state law, which you can find at www.packing.org, you may or may not be required to inform.

When required to inform, I generally say "I need to inform you that I do have a concealed carry permit and I am carrying." I NEVER say the word GUN or FIREARM. Both times the cop really didn't care and didn't ask to see the license or the gun.
