The 26 is a fine pick, lots worse choices to make, that's for sure.

I am not a fan of pocket carry and would never do it but if she insists on being able to do that that most likely is going to further limit her selection of pistol toward the "tiny" category. Though I am sure some may pocket carry a double stack like the Glock 26 most would not find that acceptable unless maybe wearing cargo pants with big and deep pockets.

I reread her text message to me. "I'm planning on the waist unless I'm wearing something that day that does not allow me to wear it there and I'd have to use a purse."

That was my mistake. Pocket carry was not mentioned. Sorry about that error. Sigarms, you make a good point about the limitations.

I have not studied the issue but from what I have heard female experts say a woman will have to purse carry from time to time due to clothes restrictions.

I've always thought purse carry was the best way to carry when combined with a concealable .380 on the body, but again not a woman nor an expert on the subject.

She will start with one.

Then she will find a home for several more. Different tools for different times.

Steyr S9 A1

My wife is also very petite. The Steyr S9 fits her hand well. Excellent trigger for a striker. On the down side, holster selection is limited compared to Glocks.

Thank you very much for the advice! And your first post. I've been waiting a long time. Maybe the coolest handle on THR! :D

Let us know how she likes it.

I sure will. When she makes that final decision, I'll post it up. The G26 is a fine gun. My youngest son bought his way back in 2002. It was his first auto loader. He loves it and has told me many times that he will never sell it.

I really like my Ruger SR9c, but I've grown to think of it as just a little too large to carry full time. Another gun that's not too far below it in quality, but smaller is the Taurus PT 111 G2. Also very low priced. The best quality compact pistol I own is probably my CZ 75 compact, but I feel it's too heavy for EDC. The good news is they make it in the alloy frame, as well, which makes it much more agreeable, weight wise.

I now carry .38 snubbies, as the size is much more comfortable. The new S&W snubbies with the non-steel frames (of one material or another) are so light that some women have complained about the recoil. Maybe the older steel frame J frame Smith? On another thread I just mentioned that I put some old factory oversized wood Target grips and it feels fantastic! Really handles the recoil. I just bought a new Ruger LCR in .22 magnum, but haven't shot it yet. That's a lightweight polymer framed revolver that shouldn't make too much recoil.

Congrats to your granddaughter!
