Had a great range day on Wednesday with my brother Mike and nephew Aaron. We brought the Garand, a 44Mag revolver and Henry rifle in the same caliber, along with my 357 Mag pair of M73 and El Patron and my Beretta M9A4 and finally my AR build in 300 AAC BLK. I am the only one that reloads between the three of us, so my work is clearly cut out for me. The brass has been tumbled for three hours using aged walnut and rouge. All ready for a long sizing and prep day.

Oldest grandson and I did similar last weekend. We ran some handloads through my new Henry in 360 BKHMR to get velocities, then we ran some more through the Freedom Arms 454, and finally some through a Rem Model 81 in 300 Savage.

I have to say the last one was probably the most fun. The rifle is an heirloom passed down through the family. There is no telling how many deer and turkey that were taken with it through the years. My mom's uncle referred to it as his "cannon" and to be honest with factory 180's from the bench it is like shouldering one.

With the handloads the grandson used H4895 and the charges were just above the minimum listing for some 165 and 180's the grandson had loaded. They were very pleasant to shoot and actually grouped right at, and just over an inch at 50 and 100yds. He is looking forward to using it this fall for hunting.

On April 4 I'm due to be a grandfather for the first time. At 72 now, I wouldn't bet I'll be around (or capable) when my grandson is old enough to shoot or reload but it'd be fun. Lucky you.

Well I have three, 15, 17, and the oldest at 22. The oldest has been more like a son to me than grandson. We have hauled him everywhere we went for years while his mom worked on weekends and such. He has been interested in all things outdoors They all hunt and the younger ones are trying to learn to load and shoot their bows. They all can shoot proficiently and have been hunting with me since they were around 6 or 7. The oldest actually got his first hog just before his 4th birthday, and the others got their first deer around 7.

The best thing about them is I know my accumulated stuff will all go to good and not be just sold away as so much other junk could be.
