Gun pants?

Good holsters were invented for a reason. Carrying a gun in your pants pocket is just silly.

I don't think it's silly at all if it means you are going to carry as opposed to leaving the gun home because the holster is uncomfortable, exposed, etc. I'd rather a person carry in their pocket than not carry at all.

As long as you understand whats involved and why.

By the time you get down to guns and pockets, you're down to about the worst of the worst of things, and everything just gets a lot harder. And that's just for people who are reasonably experienced.

Some people are just better off not carrying a gun. ;)

The same is true of concealed IWB/OWB carry. If you don't practice, nothing is going to work well.

With belt carry, youre generally dealing with more realistic guns and gear, and the level of difficulty is not as great, in both shooting and deployment.

Small guns are all the rage now, and personally, I dont think that's really a good thing, and in a number of directions. How often do you see people practicing with them at the range, and from how they carry them?

At the range we belong to, you can't draw from a holster or any other way. So I never see anyone practicing either way. But I do see folks shooting smaller SD guns pretty often.

But I agree setup is critical. If you have a little gun down in the bottom of a pocket somewhere that you have to dig around for, that is not ideal. Still better than not having one at all though. My pocket gun is not small (P229 RX), pocket carried in a sticky holster. When I carried smaller guns, like a Shield, it tended to roll over in my DTC cargo pockets. The bigger gun does not do that, so it's always in the same place. I live on an acreage and am out in the yard/woods a lot. I practice draw it often. I also put at least 150-300 rounds down range every week. Closer to 500 last week. I feel good about my chances, and certainly to do not feel silly.

Putting people for whom pocket carry is their only option in this category is the worst sort of elitism.

There are literally millions of Americans who think everyone should be in that category, including you. Don’t be one of them.

I was referring to those who simply put a gun in their pockets and do nothing else.

I feel the same about anyone who doesn't go beyond just "having a gun", no matter how they carry it. Its bad enough we have to worry about the bad guys. ;)
