Gun snob recommendations

you can pick up a used Ruger P85 MkII for $200-225. I own two, bought new -- they're solid made and shoot all day. Good ergos too, at least for my hand.

though they were recalled and fixed for free (but what ruger isn't?)

good gun.

My custom made Ed Brown is the best pistol for the $$$, I could ever hope to find and that is why I purchased it at just shy of $3000.

It will last 150 years and my grandchildren's grandchildren may be able to enjoy this gun if they are still allowed to own them by then. :(

any taurus revolver, cz 50 or 70, Arcus, tangfolio, eaa, charter, raven/bryco/jennings/cobra arms, but it must be 32 or 25 cal, no 380 or 9mm. The origional design was built for the 25 and 32 cal. Rohm revolvers, can be had for pocket change. beretta neos, beretta tomcat. there are several , if you really start to put your mind to it...

I don't consider myself a gun snob, but one horrible experience with a Sigma left a bad taste in my mouth.
Small wonder.

You're not supposed to put them in your mouth.

I've actually considered buying a HiPoint running several hundred rounds through it to establish reliability / accuracy and carrying it instead of a more expensive Ruger, Glock or S&W. They can be bought here locally for $99. If you could hit a gallon jug with it at 30 or 40 feet and it not jam that would be good enough to defend yourself with.

I did just that a few years ago. I bought a C-9 to see if they were as bad as everyone said they were. I can't speak for all of them but mine wasn't. I put about 2,000 rounds through that gun, before I got bored with it, and in that time had a half dozen malfunctions. Of those six, four came from one box of "range reloads", so I gave the gun a pass on them. I could shoot it just about as well as any other 9mm I've owned. I never carried it on me, but I have tossed it in the glove box and used it as a "truck gun."

If it was all I could afford, it would do.

But, the CZ-82 in 9x18 is a better choice. I paid less than $200.00 for mine not too long ago, but I have a C&R. Even if you had to get it at a dealers, it should still be under $300.00.
