Has Your LGS Raised Prices?

Around here, the two major LGSs(one local and one 30 miles away) sold firearms at about the same cost as you could buy them online. Both are approved FFLs for major online gun stores. From what I understand, their primary sources have dried up and they are having to go to secondary sources to restock their shelves. Thier prices are still below MSRP on most guns, but not cut as much as before. I'd assume those stores that sold at MSRP before, can't really raise their prices above that.....yet. Back in 2010, I stopped at a LGS about 50 miles south-southeast from where I live. They had a new 6" S&W 686 in the display case with a $999 price tag on it...at that time, about $200 over MSRP. When I questioned the clerk about it, he told me it was a collectors item now that S&W had discontinued making them and you couldn't get them anymore.......:what: When I called his bluff on it, he just grumbled and walked away. Whenever there are times like this, there are going to be folks like that True Value Store in South central Wisconsin, that will attempt to take advantage of folks that may be desperate or naive. Human greed raising it's ugly head.

My LGS has not raised prices, they just don’t have anything. Old 30-06s, shotguns and old revolvers is all that’s in stock.

I don't think this is really the time to buy firearms so I am not sure about gun prices. As far as ammo and reloading the LGS stocks haven't been high enough to check.
I never knew there was a time not to buy guns. Last week I told my wife not to let me buy anymore guns. Today I told her I need (want) another gun.

My local LGS hasn't raised gun prices, but their shelves are still stocked full of rifles, shotguns, pistols, etc. My local LGS tends to charge $30-100 more for any gun they have vs other places, maybe that's why their shelves are still full. I have noticed their ammo prices have shot through the roof. Just a few days ago I was there and a guy paid over $60 for 100 FMJ .380 rounds and a 20 round box of .380 Hornady Critical Defense...I about choked.

It's true, all the distributors have raised prices and most LGS have long sold out of their stock and have to buy at much higher prices. I've also heard that part of the ammo shortage is due to the fact that the ammo companies are producing more defensive rounds due to both demand and the fact that they make more money on it than target rounds.
When I can buy Speer Lawman 9mm for .018/round or Speer Gold Dot for .80/round, which one do you think Speer would rather make?...............

My prices for guns haven't gone up. They've simply gone back to normal and I'm not getting rid of my inventory at a loss anymore. I only have a few 320's in 45 and a few 938's. We don't sell guns for the measly profit. We do it for our members. We run a private club with an FFL for the benefit of the members. Profit on guns is terrible. 10%.

My price for ammo went up about $1.50 per box overall. I'm no longer selling case quantities so I can hopefully get an order filled from one of my distributors before I run out. It isn't looking good.

Yep, prices have gone up, if you can find anything.

I still have been able to cherry-pick 9mm at under $200 a case shipped, but that's probably $30 more than I had been doing, and some have now been in aluminum or even steel. To be fair, the steel was 167 shipped, still up a couple cents a rd, but makes it easier to hang on to the brass cased stuff for later.

Similar situation with 45- I've still found things at 12-14 bucks a box of 50, but instead of S&B brass, it's steel or reloads.

I didn't have an AR or anything in 556, it just wasn't my interest. Until now... so I figured I'd have to pay an upcharge if I wanted something. Given the mood of the country and the way things seem to be heading, I decided to look around. Came across a complete rifle online, Radical Firearms with a 16" barrel, NIB for $475, $500 shipped. I did some research on this and figure I could have saved $50-$75 earlier. Oh well, that ship sailed, and I determined that $500 wasn't going to last long in today's world, so I got it. After my delay is over, it's coming home with me this week, and will join my similarly overpriced IMI 556 case. I figure now's not the time to argue over 1 or 2 hundred, in the grand scheme of things. I didn't feel I needed one before, now I do.

I've been alive and buying ammo and guns long enough to remeber the last 3 big runs on guns and ammo...so for the last 3 years or so I've been steadily buying reloading components for the rounds I do reload, and steadily buying brass cased ammo for the rounds I don't reload.

I've been asked by friends, family, and coworkers to sell them some of my ammo, and they look at me disgusted when I tell them, you'll pay me what I paid for it (I keep all ammo and gun receipts), plus 7% profit for me. I get back that's rediculous your just trying to rob me, I tell them well you should've been prepared and if you wanna pay more somewhere else go ahead...I guess everyone expects me to off load my stockpile to break even or at a loss.

So have I. I'm new to the AR platform, but not to guns, and I remember the days of cheap Chinese SKS (under $100).

You've mentioned panic-runs... with all respect, I DON'T think that's what's going on. This just doesn't feel right.

At this point, I'm no longer really caring if it's a 30 dollar markup on a case. I think we're approaching a point where if you want something, you better go ahead an get it now, and let things sort out later.

I have faith that a different future is in view...

I never knew there was a time not to buy guns. Last week I told my wife not to let me buy anymore guns. Today I told her I need (want) another gun.

I am hoping, for many more reasons than value shopping alone, that there will be a surplus of very lightly handled, used firearms hitting the market in six or seven months. Most likely with a box of ammunition.

And I might add, pursuing the local Dunham’s after camping to buy things I should have taken, they have basically no handgun ammunition, but plenty of pistols and shotguns. Many of these were on sale.

I resisted greatly the call of a S&W PC Victory.

I still am...:)
