I mainly buy gun parts and accesories on Gunbroker, but I have bought four guns on line.

One from Gunbroker and three from the Highroad members. To tell the truth, I've had better deals, better descriptions of the guns, and ease of transaction from the Highroad members.

I've bought a lot of guns on the internet. I've had a curio and relics license for 15 years or so.

Now I'm going to buy my first firearm requiring a transfer to a 01 ffl but the deal will take place on the internet.

Yes.

I had reservations at first, but it was super easy - a normal online purchase followed by a call to my local dealer, and I had my gun in a few business days.

First gun I purchased was a carry gun for my wife from Impact Guns. Since then I have purchased 2 more guns off of Gun Broker. All went off without a hitch, and arrived within 5 business days.

I live where the gun shops are few and far between. I rarely buy new guns, I have purchased 4 guns from online auctions and two from the classified here on THR. I was quite satisfied with three, the other three had to go to a smith before I could use them. If it where another product I would have sent them back, but with transfer fees and shipping...

I'm interested in a hard to find rifle on Guns America at the moment, but the seller has no feed back and considering my batting average?

"Are ya feeling lucky Tom?:D

Yep; Lots. I have had two bad experiences, neither cost me money ultimately. The first was a seller that sold an item he did not have on GB; took a few weeks for my money to come back. The second was my fault, I bid on an item that was not the model I thought it was. I explained to the seller the situation & he agreed to re-list the item without holding me to the deal. We left each other good feedback & moved on, and he more accurately listed the model in the dscription on the re-list. They are not all that way---be sure to ask all questions BEFORE bidding or you may be obligated to buy something you don't want.

Be sure to read seller feedback. They may have an A+ rating and still be a poor partner to deal with. Take careful note of how they respond to ANY negative feedback. If they are angry, belligerent & blame the buyer, I would be careful. A seller that takes ownership of a service issue will get my business even if their feedback is not perfect.

Also be aware of sellers that are not stocking dealers. Nothing wrong with it, just be aware that the pictured item for these sellers may be coming from the manufactures website and not from actual stock. It typically takes these dealers a little longer to track down, acquire, and then sell you the item. If you see 5,000+ transactions for a seller, chances are they are buying the item when you order it.

i got a nice ruger old army off gunbroker for a decent price and even came with more accesories than was listed.

One, from Buds. Flawless transaction, took advantage of their 90 day layaway to lock in a sale price, once I paid it off the shipping was extremely fast. Great experience.

I never have. I've often thought about it, but never did for fear of getting a bad deal. its too bad since i like mil surp guns and there aren't too many in my area so online would be the best place to find guns.

You know if you get a gun from a reputable site and you don't approve of what you receive you don't have to accept the transfer...right?

I can understand the apprehension in dealing with private people selling used guns though.

I like Gunbroker. I've never had a problem. The selection is tremendous. If the price goes too high, just let it go, there's always another one tomorrow.

In the last ten years, probably 25 or so (buying), and almost the same number selling.
GunBroker, Guns America, and Auction Arms, several each. THR, TFL, and S&W Forum, at least several each. Texas CHL Forum, more than that. :)

I can honestly say that I have had exactly one negative experience. Guy sold me a Charles Daly 1911 that he said worked perfectly. It did, for one round. Jammed almost every other round. I asked him about it and he denied ever having a problem with it. Later, found that he had made a number of posts on different forums using the same user id (Darkness) repeatedly calling the CD 1911 a "jammomatic".

Here's one: Posted on the S&W Forum 08 March 2006 08:45 AM
"I carry Black Talons in my Charles Daly Jam-Master 2000 compact."
He's a member on THR, too, although he doesn't appear to be hanging out here recently: Here he's asking for help with said 1911.

Guess that instead of fixing it, he sold it to me.

His name is Tony Vanelli, and he lives in Cincinnati. Avoid him. :)

Only C&R. It saves money and increases your selection. Everyday is like a nation-wide gun show. If it seems fishy or too good of a deal, it probably is. Be careful.

Bought a new XD from Woodbury Outfitters via Gunbroker.... Well, I placed the order on there, but paid for it and picked it up in person.
I'd still do an order where I paid online had it shipped, rather than a pickup. I buy stuff online all the time. Just have to be extra picky and do lots of research beforehand.

Yes, five from Gunbroker. As others have said, checking their feedback is key. I tend to also always ask them a question and see how well they communicate before bidding. It's just $15 to transfer at my local pawnshop and I've gotten some great deals. I've gotten one jerk on Ebay on an item that cost $1.75.......it was a real pain to clear up but he was from Jersey with broken english so I sould have known better.

Try Backpage sports equipment classifieds. I buy a lot of guns from there.

Seconded. Every other gunstore wanted to lowball me on my shotty, but a Cabela's rep suggested backpage and even admited he had to deal with cost, profit etc. Amazingly, almost scarily easy for somebody like myself not used to the process. Cash+ID=Gun out here in AZ. Got a fair price, somebody got a decent gun. Everybody was happy.

As long as you can put up with the standard idiocyncracies of people bailing without reason like they do on craiglist and keep plugging, you'll do reasonably well buying and selling.

Lots and lots of firearms. Mostly purchased, all OK deals and most were in better shape than described/pictured. On line is an enhancment to the local dealer IMO I go to the dealer after looking on line and ask his best price. If he is in the ballpark (say 10% more) done deal. If he is LOTS higher then I buy on line and do the transfer through him. It did not take him long to offer a REASONABLE price for my inquirys and we now are on the same page. :D Still he does not always have the specific deal and will say to jump on that deal fast before I loose it. He still gets a fair share of my cash each month.:D DO pay attention to feedback but I bought a Handi Rifle from a guy with zero feedback and got the best deal of my on line purchases so far that time.

Bought my first online gun the other day. Local stores don't carry CZ's. Well, except Bass Pro, but they want ridiculous amounts of money for it. Hopefully it will be here tomorrow.

I would have as many times as I've bought guns (twice), but I got a better deal buying new directly from the gun store than used online with shipping+transfer.

I got a brand new, never fired 1943 MN 91/30 for $99.99 and tax. You cannot beat that online.

Then I got a S&W 642. On sale for $399 with that $50 rebate taking it down to $349. Again, show me where you could do that cheaper online even with a cheap FFL transfer.

I usually buy things used in private party sales when I want to buy something, but guns turned out differently.
