And consider the volume of data involved. How would that be managed on this site, in public.

Doing this sort of research could be very useful, but there are ways to do it and ways not to do it. A skilled researcher is going to gather the data in different ways and deal with it offline. Also a knowledgeable researcher is not going to passively sit back and wait for folks to send him the information. A call for information might well be part of the research plan, but the research will necessarily go beyond that and include a proactive search of information.

I can tell you this. The bad guys in my area have been using mostly 40 S&W for the pass few years. Once in a while there is a spike in the use of 45 Auto. But this year, 2017, there has been a decrees in 40 S&W in favor of the 9mm
Also my dept. has been issuing more Glock 17s over the Glock 22s for the pass two years. Our officers have been able to chose the 17 or 22 to carry for the pass 15 years.

Here is a link to a PDF, about an officer involved shooting, I think that I saw it on this forum first, but that has been a log time ago.
If your thread doesn't take of the way that you wanted it too---well, OK, things happen---but at least you will have this--- and it is pretty good info, in a PDF.

I found the thread on this forum, for the same PDF report. It is dated 2011, so it has been there a while.
