I see so many people and even reading it on this thread where they have to have that "reinforced" belt. They don't realize that the mass produced belts by larger makers and retailers are many times just layered together and lined to cover up the nasty flesh side of the leather and so they can use lesser quality and inferior import leather and get the same feel for stiffness.
You don't need that with a quality leather belt and it's much more comfortable to use a belt constructed of heavy skirting, harness, or bridle, leather and let it conform to your body. Not only is it more comfortable the way the belt forms to your body helps keep the gun positioned as much or more than the stiffness of a belt. In other words if the strap of leather will hold the saddle on a horse or pull a cart it's dang sure going to hold a gun weighing a few ounces on your side.
I wouldn't dare point out any vendors in particular but the point is you don't always get what it looks like. Someone pointed out their belt came from a local gun show vendor and if they are a custom maker that is where you are going to be guaranteed the quality of the product you are buying because it's their name on it and you can get a "feel" for what you are purchasing.
