Cool, although I think the term "hominid" might be a bit much and doesn't flow very well. Maybe "I am a small mammal". The word hominid kind of emplies already that you would be fangless and clawless since it is a pretty specific family name that includes pretty much just humans and some extinct species. Mammals might be a better term for comparing us to larger, meaner, fanged and clawed critters.

UPDATE- I like that better myself. That was a quick change.

Maybe put a "____________" on the righthand side, opposite "Classic easy prey", to imply the viewer has to fill in the blank?

When I see a poster, my eyes naturally progress from the top down. I read the last line "classic easy prey" after the tool user comment. I had to think about it a while to figure out that the classic easy prey meant that she was prey without the tools. I would personally put the "classic easy prey" above her hand, with the other text, and then put the tool comment under the gun hand.

Just a suggestion.

After reading it a few times, I agree with the above...I naturally want to read her right hand side above her hand, then left hand side above her hand...then my eyes move down to her bottom right hand side where the easy prey comment is located.

I think a more powerful and insightful way to represent this would be with the follwing text (or similar):



On the one hand, I am only a mammal born without fangs or claws; i.e., easy prey.

On the other hand, I am a tool user; nature selects the best-adapted organisms to survive and to reproduce.

I agree that my eyes are reading the words out of order, as several people have mentioned and Matt G nicely drew. I'd also add though that the words are unbalanced. There's too much on the first hand. In the interest of balance and order, I'd just remove "Classic easy prey". It's kind of redundant anyway.

Actually, as mammals go, I believe Homo sapiens is among the larger. When you tally all the mice and rats and voles and squirrels and assorted other small mammals, we're well above the median. Oh, we're smaller than elephants and horses and gorillas, to be sure, but they're nowhere near as numerous as the little critters.

As mammals go, you are correct. We are in like the top 20% size wise. However if you take the median size (which would be between the smallest mammal which was about one tenth of an ounce and the largest which weighs about 380,000 pounds) we fall well short (even if figuring the average human at 200lbs since we are a fat bunch these days) of the approx 190,000 pound median. See how easy numbers are to manipulate to meet your needs.

What I think would be cool would be a background of ghost images (very faint B&W) showing the larger mammals like bears, cougars, etc behind the woman.

Many average, non-gun people would fill in the blank with "Predator." Remember, many sheep can't tell the difference between sheepdogs and wolves.
