How about a THR Convention?

Just a thought...

I searched through our dearly remembered TFL and there were several get-togethers. I believe at the end, after several years, there were some 17,850 members. Unfortunately for me, I only participated during the last two years or so.

There are about 6,400 members here at THR, but that's after a relatively short time, so we are doing fine.

How about having a convention of sorts, if for nothing more, just to meet as many of the great folk here as possible?

• A big banquet room in a nice hotel?
• Invite manufacturers to display their stuff?
• Guest speaker(s)?

It would be nice if a shooting range were available, but as much as we all like to shoot and seem to do quite often, maybe shooting itself wouldn't be a prerequisite.

Any ideas?

In principle ..... LOVE the idea!!

In practice ..... well this great nation is on the large side and so be awful difficult to manage something all could reach ..... without very long drives or flights... and thus, expense.

For me ...... if such an event was within - say - half a day's drive ... then probably I'd be up for it ..... much beyond that tho and I'd feel the need for vacation time and that would not be so easy.

I did drive near 4,000 miles with my wife last June, in little over 8 days but .. that ain't an everyday event!! Mind you ....... the initial ''excuse'' was to check out a gun show in Dallas!!

We need to become a not for profit tax exempt educational foundation. Then we could collect money for worthwhile causes and have huge educational meetings we could all write off. Of course we'd have to set up a taxable for profit political arm and have them meet in the back yard at extra cost.

We tried to have a TFL weekend where everyone held gatherings on a certain weekend. Too much unpredictability with schedules and weather kinda killed it.

I'll set one up in Pennsylvania if you're interested? There are hotels and motels with 5 minutes of my gun club. Philadelphia and Allentown airports are only 30-40 minutes away.
