I got in the game later in life, pretty sorry I did, as I enjoy them more than my autos and rifles.
A few Rugers, a few Colts, and a Freedom 83. It all started with a Super Blackhawk 44 about 15 yrs ago, then really gathered steam around 2018 with a Super Redhawk 454. It was all downhill for my wallet from there to present.
I have been on the Revolvers road for a year! love the look and mechanics and simplify but elegant of a wheel gun

I have thirteen revolvers, ten of which are S&W's from 1968-1981, and all but one of those is a magnum caliber.
M19-3, M25-5, M27-2, M28-2, M29-2, M48-4, M57, M58, M66-1, M520

Non-S&W's: Rossi (model??) 3" 5-shot .38Spl, Taurus (model??) 2" 5-shot .38Spl, Uberti 5-1/2" SAA clone .45 Colt

I've had the Rossi for over 45 years (was my Dad's), the Taurus for 32 years (is my wife's) and the M19-3 I got in 2014. The rest have come since the M19-3. I've had two other S&W's many years ago, and like an idiot parted with them for some dumb reason.

A better question might be how many I have owned. I seem to have a revolving (pun) accumulation of revolvers, and I've had a few over the years. Probably have six at the moment, most are rugers at the moment. My nicest one at the moment is a 4" model 10, and my most beat up is an old sbh I cut down to 5" for a more compact 44 hunting revolver. I have a current want list bigger than my current collection, and I am sure I'll have more in the future. I'm only 44, but the kids are already picking out ones they want, so I'm sure I'll accumulate more to fill holes in my need/want list. Don't have much in the semi auto dept, just a couple carry guns for me and the wife. We both prefer revolvers.

Then the problem becomes should I start selling some off? I look at a gun I have not fired for 10 years or more and decide I can't part with it as common sense tells me just sell it. :) Back where I started.

DON’t SELL! you will regret it!

That's me. For a while, I just wasn't shooting revolvers... actually, there was a time I just wasn't shooting at all, but we don't talk about that. I see something lying on the shelf in the safe that I haven't used in a while, and the cogs start turning. Part of my problem is I don't like keeping things that I don't use. I did that when I got out of the 9mm business... I actually sold off all my 9mm reloading kit, including a nearly full 60# of Winchester 9mm FMJ bullets. Fast forward just a few years, when I picked up my first Kahr 9mm for carry duty... and I had to go back out and buy all the kit, again. Same with revolvers. I have 3 revolvers I've sold off that I really do regret selling... but their current market price tells me they will stay gone.

I akin the revolver thing to the argument about steel and wood rifles vs the newer platforms like the AR. You can even go back and say that about rifles like the Garand... classic wood n' steel rifles, with a limited magazine capacity... big and heavy... but there is something very rewarding shooting the old Garand, in much the same way there is shooting a classic revolver.

Analyzing the curve with my backwood mind…

Look like 5-10 is the normal. BUT look at the “You don’t want to know” presumably over 30, it spikes again to 15% of the poll.

Conclusion: normal people have 5-10 revolvers, but once you start having over 10… you go to the EXTREME and hit the 30+ Club! Well done “Extreme Revolver Person” !!!

As of today it is 9, but I am currently trying to consolidate that down to 5.

The ones I intend to keep are,

4" sp101 357
4" model 10 38
5" 629
4" taurus 941 22 mag

I am selling an arminus 22, a ruger wrangler, and an H&R top break 22 and I intend to replace them with a taurus 4" 94. Also going to sell my 44 mag tracker to buy another 45 auto.

2-Dan Wesson Pistol packs, they're like having 8 different pistols with different length barrels.
3-Rugers, 45 Colt New Vaquero, Super Red Hawk Alaskan 454 Casull, & an stainless steel Old Army
1-Kimber K6
1-Heritage Rough Rider 22/22mag (Mrs pistol)
So a total of seven today & I'm shopping for a 44mag revolver seeing that I'm reloading for the round & wanted more that one gun to shoot them out of. Looking for 29-2 or 629-2, Dan Wesson, & looking at the new Anaconda as a possibility too.

any interest in the New 29’s? was thinking about about it

I have a new 629, it has been great but I will say the frame lock is irritating to look at, the barrel is slightly overtightened which cants the front sight a bit and off sets the front of the frame leaving it slightly uneven where the two halves meet.
For the amount the new, or should I say ridiculously named “Classic“ models cost, I would most likely be looking for an earlier model 29-2 like Mr. Nasty Canasta.

Scratch what I said about me looking for earlier models, the older stuff is great but I didn’t realize the things were running in the neighborhood of two grand.…they ain’t that great to me.
If you buy new Mark just make sure you inspect the thing very well, which I guess could be said about buying used as well.

There's nothing at all wrong with the new 29's as a whole. Sure, you can get a lemon, but believe it or not, Smith and Wesson, (and everyone else) turned out lemons back in the day. The difference is they've gotten fixed by now.

In another thread, I mentioned that I recently passed on a Model 29-2 for a 29-10 for a few hundred dollars difference in the price. While I don't like the lock, it doesn't bother me. I don't even think it's all that bad looking. It's just another pin or screw in the side of the gun. Now, if someone doesn't like the lock for whatever reason I'm not going to try to change your mind, but the guns themselves are OK. IMHO of course.

Here's the side with the lock. Frankly I have to look to see it. It is more noticeable on a SS gun I think. I have swapped out the stocks. The Altamont's are thinner than I like, so I just put a set of Hogue's on it for shooting. I also admit that I don't shoot a lot of magnum ammo in it, but the only thing I shoot at is a paper target, and they don't take a lot of killing. It's just a big gun that makes a big hole in the paper. I need to take it to the range this weekend now that I think of it.

It looks better now after a few coats of Ren Wax by the way.

That's the key. I almost always buy used, and mostly from the same big local dealer who has a reputation for not selling "junk". I still inspect every gun I buy. Keeps them on their toes, and I get to educate the young whippersnappers behind the counter. ;)

The Rossi might be a Model 31. I have one of their 3" small-frame 38's from the 60's or 70's. It's not marked with a model number, but looking at pictures it seems to be a Model 31. The cylinder release is dark.

those DW shoot good? always wanted to try one

Oh yeah, but they are different than the SW/Taurus guns. I actually like the cylinder release better on the DW guns than the Smith type. If you read a post by someone who claims the barrels come loose, they just forgot to tighten it up. I've had a lot of DW guns and never had a barrel loosen up that I had actually remembered to tighten up in the first place. The 715 is my favorite revolver, with the S&W 28's just behind.
