How long does it take to get approved at sigforums

The folks on Sigforum are knowledgeable about Sigs, but in general the mood is actually anti-Sig. Tons of posts about how quality has gone down the tubes under the new management and move to U.S production, and how the German made guns are superior. Whether or not the complaints are true I don't know, but its all very negative compared to the unbridled cheerleading you see on most brand specific gun forums.

I've been a member there for a number of years.

It may be called Sig Forum but the guys there love all sorts of guns.

The population is very diverse there, people from all walks of life. It would be very difficult to ask a question about pretty much anything and not find a member who knows the answer.

Plus, there are lots of military guys there. Who wouldn't want to hang around those guys?:neener:

Quality gone down? Glad i got one when i did (its an older version).

We will see how it performs soon enough. My p239 is perfect.

i would hate to see quality going down as that would limit me severly in my choices of carry guns...

I used to HATE S&W but i am hearing good things about them as of late???

to let you know what kind of members there are over there.

a member had some medical problems and ran into a cash flow problem...he was a self employed gun dealer...and was looking at losing his house. another member put together a raffle for him and then other members started donating stuff for the raffle...including several guns. at a dollar a ticket, we raised over $10k to help him out...it's just that kind of place.

it is a very diverse group, the most often owned pistol, after a Sig, by members is the Glock 19

Sounds like the kind of forum I'd want to hate on with an "anti-sigforum forum" right? :banghead: I've been nothing but 100% happy with my experiences there...that's not something I say often/ever. :D

So what happened with Parabellum and his control over the S&W forum? Why did he leave? And why after he no longer had contol were all of the people, who he banned, sent emails stating they were no longer banned?

It really seems to be that! The temptation in me is strong as well.:D

I've met a few members from there that are great guys and got to shoot some guns that I otherwise wouldn't have the chance to.

And i remember the members there being VERY knowledgeable back in the day as well...which is why i sought to return. Didnt know about the strange secret society "Mason'esque" acceptance policies.

From the sounds of it..its easier to become a Mason actually :scrutiny:

You could always email him and ask him.

I've found the SIG forum members to be a very well informed group. I'm always cruising 'The Lounge'.

The question was rhetorical.

It's been a while, but I think Para dumped the S&W forum for the same reason he dumped (sold) the Ruger forum, finances.

And Lee (Handejector) bought the S&W forum but has sanitized/changed that place so much that many of the posters stopped posting. Plus, for the longest time there were complaints that posters were getting flagged by their virus protection software everytime they tried to log onto the S&W forum.

I stopped visiting that site because the new owner and his new clique have strange ideas. I never got any virus warnings, though.

Para was extremely heavy handed. Such things like posting that no profanity was to be included in thread titles, then he'd post a thread with profanity in the title, and when somebody pointed out the inconsistency, he banned them. Literally.

The night of the "long knives" he got into a beef with an old time member. Para banned him. Then other old time members and staunch supporters of Para went to bat on the other old time member's behalf. Para banned them too. A bunch of them. It was almost comical because I don't log on consistently and one week I came back and all their most prolific posters were gone. And you couldn't ask where they went or what happened.

But I found out about the other forum and joined over there. That was at the height of the battle. The 2aforum was running threads blasting sigforum. Para was running his own threads blasting "dinkville." Para would posts a couple of times a day how little traffic was on the other forum and how well sigforum was doing.

I swear, it was like watching rival kindergarten factions fighting at recess. I haven't been that entertained since Jimmy Carter got crushed by Ronald Reagan.

But yes, in line with the above posts, there are some fine men (and a couple of wimmins) on Sigforum.

And mostly they seem to be retired/active military and retired/active law enforcement. It's a good place to be.

There are indeed some fine folks on the SigForum. And everything you posted is true. He ran the S&W Forum into the ground.

Exactly...IMHO if you get offended that easily then perhaps there's a closet for you to go live in with a nice little slot for people to bring you food through. PC'ness is ruining our society when your first thought isn't "How do I feel?" but "Who am I going to offend?" :banghead: :cuss: :banghead: :cuss:

And I'm really failing to see how this thread furthers "the high road mission". Haha

Para is the issue. He things he walks on water and no one who loves Sigs can exist without his forum.

He routinely protects certain vendors from legitimate criticism and will ban anyone who disagrees with him. He will only let negative comments about Sig and their products go so far. If you tell it like it is and properly illustrate the issues that Sig has created in its product line you will be banned. He will censor your comments and if you do not get into lock step you are gone no matter how much truth your telling. He is IMHO an ego maniac with an over inflated sense of importance and shows his inability to control his emotions and pettiness on a regular basis.

You are not getting the real deal about the current Sig there anymore. IMHO it has been that way for years and many die hard Sig fans who are not fanatics have left.

That pretty much sucks.

I understand every gun manufactureres has its ups and downs..good and bad....but i still think Sig is one of the finest weapons you can buy...problems with the 250 and 238 (and a few isolated runs of their other lines) not withstanding.

Well there are certainly some interesting opinions on here.

I've been a member at SIGForum as long or longer as I've been a member here. I've been a member at HKPro for longer. I almost never post here or at HKPro in favor of sigforum. Some of the reasons:

I can post about anything at sigforum. HKPro is HK only and THR doesn't allow non-gun talk. That's perfectly fine. When you are in someone's house, you follow their rules. And that follows directly to the second reason.

Boneheads are singled out and removed from sigforum in a normally timely manner, and usually not from the mods, but by the community.

As for someone being banned by Para for pointing out that he broke his own rule... Well I have two things to say about that. First is that I have NEVER seen Para ban someone at the drop of a hat like that. What likely happened was he was either a long time troll that Para finally got fed up with, OR he carried on an argument for many more than one post with one of the two OWNERS of the forum. Here's a hint- If you come to my house and I say that you're not allowed to smoke in my house, I am still allowed to light up a cigar without you saying anything about it.

Sigforum is by far the best online community I have ever been a part of.

Wow Allentown... you didn't come here with an axe to grind did you? You sound like Cliffy.

Oh... Hi, I'm new here. Sort of.

Dont know who cliffy is. I love sigs and just wanted to ask the experts some of their opinions.

I have never had a forum hold back on my approval like that before....(strange to me)

I am on Allformustangs, hardware central, anandtech, toms hardware, reefkeepers, the list goes on and on... never experienced that before.

No axe to grind, just didnt understand it.

p.s. Allentown e-mail the webmaster at sigforum and ask what the hold up is.

To the original poster--patience is a virtue. SIGforum is a good place, like thehighroad. Dorian put it best in his previous response.

Seems like the same conspiracy theorists who love to bash on SF still take every opportunity to do so. It's like a sore that won't heal with some of you guys. I thought that the 'other' forum was supposed to quell all of your misgivings; a place that was free of the hate? So why does it still come up? Because you got banned and got your feelings hurt? Sad.
