How long does it take to get approved at sigforums

Ive been waiting for approval on glocktalk for almost a week. I click on the reply button, and then it says I dont have approval to reply to threads... :(

With a handle like 'agony', what can I say? I witnessed a lot on the Smith Forum that supports what harmonic wrote. It got to be painful to even watch. That doesn't mean there aren't good people on both the Smith & Wesson Forum and the SigForum. It just means beware of Para.

Wow. :D

I haven't posted on THR in aaaaaaaaaages.

Sigforum has it's culture. Just like THR has its culture. They're different. Arfcom's different. Glocktalk's different.

All these big internet forums have different cultures.

Yeah, sigforum takes a long time to get your account approved. But I can tell you this, in the past year, I've only seen ONE spammer get a post through.

Here's me being selfish. I'd rather YOU wait two weeks to get your account approved, than have to wade through viagra/cialis/midget-on-goat-porn/PLEASETOBEGREETINGYOUFROMTHEMINISTEROFAGRICULTUREINTHEGREATCOUNTRYOFCHAD - stuff on a regular basis. :D

Sigforum's full of great folks. I've seen some simply stunning generosity from the membership there.

hey agony...i didn't know you were a member here too

Yeah, been here since before the demise of the original Firing Line, but when all the splitting occured, I rarely post here. I do come to check out the classifieds and read up on some of the more esoteric firearms.
Like Siglite above, this was my first post in ages.

hi guys - I'm a member at SF too. :D

I'd speculate that Para tries to confirm that the new users aren't just new IPs of older banned members. Perhaps he hates playing whack-a-mole with people that have managed to piss him off, and are just trying to get back in? I'd offer that if it was such a bad forum, why then, would the banned try to re-register after they've been asked to leave?

I think that it is an interesting community, and it is shaped by the mods. I will not comment on the rules/bans since I am not an owner.

I am a member here and SF as well, I just haven't posted here in a LONG time.

Allentown,if you want to listen to folks who have an axe to grind, go ahead.

If you want to give it a chance, I think you'll find the place one of the better run forums around.

Think of the place like Joe's bar. You can talk about just about anything, all that is asked is that you be civil about it.

I agree that Sigforum has some great and helpful members there.

Perhaps the mods have better things to do than approve your membership at your convenience.
It is a free forum ya know...
Give it time and stop whining...:( :)

My Thoughts on SF

Here's my take; I've been a member of SigForum for quite a while now and it's a truly awesome place. I recommend you be patient; it's worth the wait to become a member.

As for speculation about "Para"; he owns the forum. So, he runs it the way he see's fit. Since I don't know him personally; liking or disliking him is perfectly irrelevant and IMHO imature. I really value my membership there so I obey the (his) rules to the letter. I'm not a syncophant; I just respect the rules just like I respect the rules at every other site I visit.

A lot of first time posters, Wow. By the way, no one here has criticized the people on the forum other than Para. I am still a member of the SF. I enjoy conversing, and have bought many Smith revolvers from folks on that forum. I have found the forum helpful. Since Para has left, the mood has changed for the better. There are no more public floggings.

You DID pay your initiation fee when you submitted your application, didn't you? That'll hold you up for several days, along with (as in my case) your paypal account doesn't forward the funds in a timely manner....

I'm a member on probably a dozen forums relating to shooting and SD, including sigforum. My experience has been positive, and it's one of the forums I frequent the most, whether I'm posting or not. I find the participants to be less leftist than some other block forums, and generally less intent on putting everyone in his or her place. The fact that some folks can't take sarcasm, irony, and Para's humorous way of making corrections is unfortunate, and part of life. If you're in another man's castle, it's his rules.

I'd encourage you to email and check your progress directly.

I agree that its worth waiting for.

ill get in when i get in...lol

Thanks for the positive feed back as well as the skinny on whats happend there and around the forums.

p.s. Once you join, don't forget to PM a signed copy of the waiver to Para.

Still waiting for mine, applied 2 weeks ago.

It's a good thing though, I was tempted to buy at least 5 handguns that came up in the classifieds.

Hahah, beware the sigforum classifieds, for they are the path to bankruptcy. I'm really active on Sigforum, but I've learned. Stay out of the classifieds. If I read those, I spend money I don't have, hahah.

GARLICMAN! How ya' been? We used to have some fun, every now and then, back on SF before I managed to PO Parabellum Super Chicken. You may remember the Calvert1 flap; I was right in the middle of the grief therapy after we found out that the whole thing was a sham and a put on by a troll. PM me and I'll reveal all.

Anyway, most of what has been said about Mr. MP's conduct of that place that is negative is unfortunately true. Lots and lots of problems there, and it's best kept gradually disappearing in the rearview mirror.
