I doubt that the poll is anonymous. The server/website is, no doubt, keeping track of who votes. Any vote is an admission to owning at least 1-3 guns. Does the server keep track of HOW you voted? I know I have seen peoples screen names in past polls, so it is at least plausible that the server is keeping track of who voted and how they voted even if it does not display that information to the user.

Sure, the server probably has some record of who voted in the database. I'm not familiar with how vBulletin keeps track of polls in the mySQL database (I'm assuming we're using mySQL here). Still though, for somebody to get a record of who voted for what, there would have to be a subpoena for that information. I highly doubt the admin(s) are going to just hand it out indiscriminately. In order for there to be a subpoena, there has to be good cause. I don't think we have to worry with this poll. We can take our tin foil hats off for a moment here. :)

btw - a slight problem with the poll I noticed.

There is some overlap.

For example, if you own 3 guns, do you vote 1-3 or 3-6? If you own 6 guns, do you vote 3-6 or 6-11? 12-24 and 25-30 was on the right track, but then it starts again at 30. If you own 30, do you vote 25-30, or 30-50? Again with 50, 30-50 or 50-100?

Just pointing it out. No biggie really. Perhaps you might want to request a mod or admin modify it.

If there was such a thing - I'd own way too many... :D

On the plus side, after you have over thirty, the wife has no idea how many you have, where they all are, and if that is a new one or not.

only 1 now that I lost most in that tragic boating accident, and then sold most of the rest to finance my latest tatoo!

I sold all of mine and spent most of the money on whisky and women. The rest I just wasted.

None, don't you know that they're dangerous, a gun will kill their owner in the middle of the night when you least expect it.

Where guns are violence follows. I wouldn't permit them in my house and sold any I may have ever had to various people some where.

I don't see what everyone is so up tight about. I would feel sorry for the BG that came to my house looking to steal my guns. Between the safes, security, dogs, and concealed weapons permits, there are a lot easier targets than me.:D I have a bunch of guns. Although some have changed since this pic, here are most of my hunting rifles.

Does that mean that if you don't know, you have enough?

ETA: before someone says it, yes, I can count to three.

I voted 6-11. I own 7 guns. 2 shotguns, 2 rifles, and 3 pistols.

I have a question though. As of the time i posted this, i noticed that there were 6 people who claim to own 100+ !!!!!

Now, if i had the money (and i dont), i am sure i could easily own and would enjoy the concept of owning over 100 guns. But, in reality, for those of you that own that many firearms, how do you take care of them all?? It seems to me that it would be too much. Thats a lot of bore cleaner, patches, and time assuming that most or even a fraction of them are fired on a regular basis.

Also a lot of lube if you live in an environment where they should all be wiped down once a month or so to keep from rusting. How do you guys find the time?! Even if i were rich and retired, im sure my wife wouldn't like the idea of me cleaning and lubing all of those guns every month or two. Probably take a couple of days.

Once you bust 50 guns-- the madness never ends. That's all I'll say. If it ever comes down to it all mine got picked up in a Tornado and are believed to be at the bottom of a lake.

Some are still new in box, some like the military surplus rifles are shot to ensure they work and sighted in. Some are regular shooters. Yes it does take a lot of work cleaning. It is cheaper to buy solvent by the quart, and you can really figure out what type of oils work best for your preference.

Personally I don’t fire them all on a regular basis, but I do dig one or two out every few weeks and fire a few rounds through one I haven’t shot in a while.

I have rods in my safes along with dehumidifier cans. I only have had 3 guns in the past 4 years get light surface rust, and two were in nylon cases and one was in the original box. Lesson learned, no air circulation = rust. I also never put a dirty gun in the gun safe, and I don’t open the door just to check up on my guns.

Why are so many of you guys paranoid about talking about your gun ownership? It's not like you're not criminals or anything.

No we're not criminals. But our standing government would love to make us into criminals.
