Do you own duplicates of rifles "just in case" or for giggles? Why do I have the urge to buy two of everything? :p

The reason I ask is when I started buying long guns, I bought a laminated, rearsenaled M44 (and a butt-load of ammo). Then I just had to buy another M44 that was original and had the regular stock (I took the pig sticker off this one). I mean, they're a hundred bucks each, right? Why not? I couldn't resist.

Now I bought an SKS, a Norinco. This one is cherry, and for some reason, now I want to get a Yugo. There's a place where I live selling nasty, ugly, abused ones for 109.00!

Should I quit while I'm ahead, or just succumb to the cheap milsurp bug?

you're like me.

Two Glock 22's
Two Glock 27's
soon to be Two Colt AR-15's
and then continuing on.

I couldn't give you a good reason why, but tonight I've been getting the cosmoline off my second SKS. And, you know, I've been thinking about another 1911.

Nothing wrong with owning duplicates a buddy has the following
7 M1 Garands
3 SKS Norincos
2 Ar15
2 Glock 19
2 Beretta 92
3 Mossberg 500

I think the only gun he has a single of is a ruger22

No such thing as too many. I mean, look how many countries built the same guns, but a little different.

SKS, Chinese, Russian, Yugo, then the D models that take AK mags..

AK's, Chinese, Russian, Romanian, Hungarian, Maadi's, Yugo's.. under fold, side fold, fixed stock, 3 different calibers if you don't count the Saiga 308's or sniper Dragunovs...

Mosins.. 91/30, M38, M44, regular or laminate, different receivers, countries..

hmmm... I think I might be missing one of those.... :p

Two is one, one is none.

Four guns of what I would want to fight with. One to carry, one in reserve in the gun safe, one buried off your property, one at the gun smith.

Multiple copies is wise for many reasons including breakage, arming friends, or trading stock. Stack them high.:)

The word is out. . . . . it is called. . . .

The rule of Two(s).

Do NOT break the rules. There will be serious consequences. Consequences of epic proportions.

Hell,at one point I had over 15 M-44's. I did thin them out a tad.
Still have TOO many SKS's and AK's.
The bigger the "group",the more fun you will have!!!

If you're looking for someone to tell you that you have too many guns, or too many of a particular model, you're barking up the wrong tree.

That said, I think you should go for that Yugo!

on my make believe budget I'd be happy with one of everything:D

On the rare occasion (only once or twice) I acquire more than one of same thing, its usually not long before I ditch one of the two in favor of something different. The way I see it, if I have one that works fine why spend money I don't have on another? Especially when there is so much out there to choose from?

I guess the only time I would have multiples of anything would be multiple Mausers, AK's, SKS's and things like that. But even then I want each one to be different in origin. For example I have lots of Mausers but no two are the same, Yugo, German, Czech, Chilean, Spainish, Swedish, ect.

Too many......

I don't see how you could have too many when nobody knows how many is enough in the first place.

One thing to be careful of... they are like rabbits.. you put two in a safe and I swear you'll end up with 6, 8 who knows??

Honest.

Not kidding! :scrutiny: ;)

I'll say it like I saw once on the AKFiles.com regarding building AK Kits:

"Go to the window. Look up in the sky. Do you see any ATF helicopters circling your house? Do you? No! Now go back inside and build more AKs!"

I got a big kick out of that. :)

How many is too many?

Well...When you call up to order a safe and the sales guy says "Oh, do you collect firearms"? And you reply..."no, I collect safes....I need this one to finish my collection..." It could be that you may have ..... no.
