Started out with pellet guns at a very young age. Probably before I turned 5.
Was given a Savage Stevens .22/.410 O/U at the age of 9. It was given to me in a box, in pieces. Dad said he would teach me to shoot it if I could put it together. He taught me how to shoot it about 30 minutes later... =)
Growing up we had a housefull of guns and I called a Stevens .410 single shot "mine" at about age 8. But the first gun I actually bought, after getting back into guns, was a Ruger Single-Six when I was 28.
The first "firearm" I bought for myself with my own money wasn't until I was 25 and it was a Benelli Nova 12 ga. But dad gave me my first BB "gun" when I was probably about 8, and my first "firearm" was a youth model Winchester 1300 20 ga. when I was about 11 or 12 probably. My younger brother traded it for who-knows-what while I was off at college.
Fifty-two. Thought I'd be the oldest until I saw svtruth's post. I generally like to think long and hard before I do anything. Didn't get married until age 45, so maybe I do overthink things.
first gun was a Crossman bb/pellet gun at around.Took my dad's bolt 22 shooting at a friedns cabin a few times around 12-13.Around 14 started going hunting and skeet/trap shooting with my dad, and joined a smallbore competition group at the local gun club. Around 16 my uncle gave me his Mossberg bolt .410 he got when he was 13, but that had been at my dads house for around 15 years and I started going hunting alone with that. At 18, bought my first gun, a Ruger Blackhawk .357 mag.
Benjamin BB gun when I was 5. My dad had reurned from Vietnam and bought it for me. Then when I was 16 he bought me a winchester shotgun. I still have the shotgun, but my youngest brother lost the BB gun.If my youngest son does well this year he gets to pick what gun he gets. He alredy owns a BB gun along with two airsofts. I figured they would be good to teach him firearm safety and techniques. Really hope he picks a gun I already own so I have an excuse to buy me new toy.
I got a gun for Christmas every year from grades 1-6.
Started with bb guns (Daisy Golden Eagle being tops), then pellet guns, then a single shot .22 rifle, single shot .410, then a 12ga pump (after the 6th grade).
I eventually bought my own Ruger Single Six when I was 17. My dad "signed for me" at Oshmans Sporting Good.
If I had a dime for every .22 long I shot thru that gun I'd be a wealthy man.
My first firearmwas a .58 caliber Zouave when I joied the NSSA @ about 22.
My kids started w/ Red Ryders @ 3 & 22s @ five.
My grandkids got Red Ryders when their moms brought them home from the hospital. I took my grandson shooting ( 22 to 44 cal)the first time when he was 4
