A small hog, but a significant one to me.
This was the 500th hog I shot off of this one property that I hunt. I'm 70 yrs. old now and still at it, so we'll see how many I can stack up before mother nature says it's time to quit. Deer season is coming up in a couple months and I'm seeing some nice bucks for this year, so hopefully I'll be up for it too. Shot this one with an original 73 Winchester in 44/40.

A lot of us have some pretty important hunting dogs. I finally made mine into the branch manager of our operation. DSCN0846_zps89975b89.jpg

Stony-
What do you do with all those hog carcass's? I really like that M1873 Winchester BTW. And a SRC to boot!

Jim....I save rear legs and occasionally backstrap off of the edibible hogs and usually take them to a muzzleloading club shoot to give them away. A lot of the guys like those porkers. I usually have a supply of them in my freezer and when it gets too full, I fill up some coolers and get them passed out. The larger boars are donated to the coyotes and buzzards. I like to put a leg or two on a smoker myself now and then .....they are some really good eating.

Yes sir....

Gods country! I like to live there someday. As far as the buck. Yeah BTDT once or twice, but I'm always to rattled to think to take a picture.

I had a lease on the Triangle Ranch for the better part of 13 years. We killed hundreds upon hundreds of hogs and a few nice deer along the way. Man oh man do I ever miss that place.
Reminds me of when this buddy of mine[name of Vern] had a cabin in a remote area of Alaska. I went there often and Vern was always saying "this is Gods country!"
So I bring a guy I work with up there [Gary] and Vern is going on to my co worker with the Gods country thing.
Gary say's "Sure it's Gods country. He's the only one that can live out here!"
Off topic I know but 15 years later I still get a chuckle out of it.
