I saw the laziest gun in the world today!

I'm an RSO for a local range. Today, a new member came in with a rifle someone gave him. He said he had it home for years and decided today to bring it it for someone to look at.

It had a round in the chamber, four in the magazine, safety off. I immediately unchambered the round and unloaded the mag. Here was a lazy rifle. It sat in a box in this guys room, never got up and shot anyone, didn't make a lot of noise to scare people, and never left the box on its own. Yup, lazy rifle indeed.

Ultimately made it safe and instructed the guy as to how to handle it.

That's how guns are these days I guess. They're either out there shooting everybody indiscriminately, or like this one with no ambition whatsoever. Whaddyagonna do? Glad you made it safe and taught them how to handle it correctly.

That's because it's not an evil black gun with assorted cosmetic features or a hi-cap magazine. We all knows those are possessed with evil.

That gun was plotting something sinister....that long off of safe, loaded for bare, and waiting...glad you clipped its wings.

How do we know it didn't undo the safety by itself? Maybe that's all the courage it worked up.

Good thing you got to it when you did. We're safe now.

On a serious note luckily that thing didn't discharge on the ride to the range.

Oh BTW when we are talking about firearms and how much a threat they are to liberals please use the word 'clip' in lieu of magazine.

I read something once upon a time that the average number of times a firearm is fired in its lifetime is 7 rounds, meaning that the vast majority of firearms are never or very seldom shot, and the very very few folks who shoot thousands of rounds.

Yeah I set an Egyptian Maadi AK on my kitchen table once upon a time with a round chambered and a 30 round magazine inserted and it sat there for eight hours and did not shoot anyone. I guess it was lazy also.
