This thread makes me feel so out of touch with the thoughts of today. All of these AR, AK, Socom, FAL guns bore me to freaking death. I would waist one of the 20 guns on a combat rifle. And that would be an AK that I have owned for more than a decade. But it is kind of boring too, but for some reason I feel like I need it. The rest of the 19 would be waisted on revolvers and lever action rifles.

The word you are looking for is "wasted". ;)

And as of today I can cross one [more] off the list!

It isn't in my hands yet, but my very first AR-15 has been paid for and carried out of the store in somebody's hands. (birthday around the corner) :) It isn't a Colt, but I didn't pay for it and there's nothing wrong with Palmetto State Armory.

Taking a copy/paste of my list from before, the Green I already have (or on the way, in the case of the AR15)

Also, if I were to cut the list down to 15, all of the guns I currently own would make the cut.

I have found as I get older I could get by with less and less. I posted my list before. I don't know if it's a case of been there and done that or if I've just figured out what I really like or that many firearms just are so similar that I don't need near duplicates. Wonder how others who've shot for a long time feel.

Pretty much in agreement Sheepdog. I've shot well over 100 different models, the more guns I've shot, the fewer I feel a need to own.

If I was putting together a 'nice to own' list I guess I would break it down something like the following.

Handguns

Rimfire:
S&W Model 41 pistol
Ruger Single Six convertible.

Centerfire:
S&W Model 27 five inch barrel.
Glock 17
Glock 34 with Trijicon RMR
CZ SP01 Shadow
Colt SAA in .357 Magnum

Rifles:
CZ527 in .223
CZ452 in .22lr
Remington 7615P in .223
Swedish Mauser in 6.5x55

Shotgun:
IAC Model 87
Double barreled .410

Only 13, but it would completely meet my requirements for hunting and target shooting, while meeting the restrictions in Australia on semi automatic long arms.

20 is ten more than I currently own

Handguns

Colt
Diamondback .22LR
SAA 2nd series .45C
Frontier scout
Woodsman Match 2nd series

Ruger
Blackhawk .45C/.45acp
LCP

Shotguns:

FYI: The premise of the thread assumes that you will have to pay for said firearms yourself, same as always. Just in case there is any confusion.

Really? 20 guns for a lifetime? I've seen the threads of "what two guns" and "what four guns" for a lifetime, but 20? Why not 100 for a lifetime? Why not 500?

I'm not playing till someone starts a thread titled "If you could only have 1000 guns lifetime, what would they be?"

If I have to pay my current set will do. The list is short and missing a 1911
10/22
870
Rem model 11(tacticool)
7.62x39 ar
Savage 10 .308
Od g17
G19

If you could only have 20 guns, lifetime,
Lets be realistic and say you could only have 60, 120, or 240?

Lets say you have a really good job, and an understanding wife who collects shoes.
So you can afford 480 or 960?

What would they be?? :banghead:

Out of curiosity, why the duplicates on the pistols? I was tempted to do the same but the rules of the game listed 20 as lifetime max. Also, why both a bolt and semiauto 22 LR? I can understand the need for a 22 but two of them seems like duplication when the lifetime cap is kinda low. Also, I still dont see a proper hunting rifle. Again, this is,all meant in friendly conversation. I could be quite happy with you list. Well, I might sob if I didn't own a lever action.
