I have an opportunity to purchase a 20ga Beretta Urika AL391 Gold Sporting for $800. It was new in July 2007. It has approximately 250 rounds through it. Do you think that's a fair deal for that gun?
That is a reasonable price, but not an oh-wow! bargain.
OTOH, That is a really sweet model. I need one of those (or better yet a 390)to partner with my Sporting 12.
I've been looking for a nice semi auto just for trap shooting. I had been looking at buying a used Remington 11-87 or the 1100 as they were more in my price range. Then this Beretta popped up and I'm debating whether or not to spend the extra dollars. I'm not big into the sport yet, but shoot regularly. I've also been offered a new Franchi 712 Raptor for $700.
Don't get a 20 Gauge for trap unless you're very small in stature and/or have injuries that preclude using a 12.
I'd think twice, then again, about spending good money on a semiauto of any kind, when you can spend it on a break-action. There are lots of reasons for this, including cleaning, picking up hulls, and reloading.
I wouldn't discourage someone from using an existing 20 Gauge or a semiauto to go shoot some trap. However, if you're looking to buy a gun, and you have a decent budget, keep looking for something that will work the best. Try some guns if you can, too, and see what you like.
