Looks like another rediculous open carry rally influenced corporate policy.

Chillis and sonic recently asked customers not to openly carry due to the most recent open carry Texas rally.

I just don't understand the point they are trying to make. If you want to open carry, then go ahead. But don't make a rediculous spectacle of your self and ruin it for everyone else.

It's really just a mater of time before someone gets shot at one of these events.

Good job guys.

Be careful making assumptions about people and guns 'round these parts.

I'm so disgusted at this comment I can't even begin to convey in words how I feel. I will say that for far too long this board has been a harbor of anti 2A advocates. I don't think I'll associate myself with this board any longer.

While it's certainly true that some of the Open Carry Texas demonstrations have garnered negative publicity for the gun community, I don't believe it's reasonable to accuse them of being against us.

Along the same lines, while carrying uncased long guns in public buildings certainly raises concerns about gun safety, it's probably more inflammatory than accurate to imply that someone's bound to get shot at one of these demonstrations.

I honestly believe OC TX is engaging in what they feel is the best way to advance OC in Texas. It is unfortunate that there is a significant disconnect between their intent and the outcomes of some of their demonstrations. It is to be hoped that they will learn from their mistakes and improve their strategy.

Open Carry Texas adopted new guidelines after the Chipotle's incident:

1) Always notify local law enforcement prior to the walk, especially the day of.
2) Carry Flags and signs during your walk to increase awareness.
3) Carry the long gun on a sling, not held.
4) Do not go into corporate businesses without prior permission, preferably not at all.
5) If asked to leave, do so quietly and do not make it a problem.
6) Do not post pics publicly if you do get permission and are able to OC in a cooperate business.
7) Do not go into businesses with TABC signs posted with a long gun (Ever).
8) If at all possible, keep to local small businesses that are 2A friendly.

Hopefully the new guidelines will affect the behavior of those who can't discern the difference between a political act and just screwing around with guns.

I just really have a hard time seeing how disrupting business establishments and disturbing their customers (and the general public) will lead to positive results for our community.
