Is the Apex Duty/Carry Action Enhancement Kit (DCAEK) and Reset Assist Mechanism (RAM) worth it? I'm considering these upgrades for a 2013 M&P. How much of an improvement over the stock trigger can I expect?

Guess it depnd on IF the pistols trigger group works smoothly or rough after a few hundred rounds . I did a DEAEK kit for my wife and it true can make a great I improvement . remember that pull weight is adjust buy the trigger return spring too in that kit. Stock spring is lighter than the with replacement spring. Wife did not do the ram.

I have put the DCAEK kits in three of my standard full size M&Ps and definitely feel it is worth it over the stock trigger. While I feel the kit is bit better than the 9Pro trigger, it is not enough to justify the change.

The RAM kit was not available when I made my upgrades a couple years ago so i cannot comment on it. I am happy with the triggers the way they are though.

I've found the D/C AEK a very real improvement over the stock action. The clean up of the trigger travel and letoff make a marginal trigger press, more than acceptable.

Whether you benefit from the RAM will depends on how you manage and reset the trigger during muzzle flip. While it is very useful when learning where the trigger resets, once you have found how far out to allow the trigger to run forward, it becomes a moot point...This does assume that you are resetting the trigger in parallel, rather than in series

I have the DCAEK kit in both my full size 9mm and my Shield. You still have the same amount of pre-travel but it is as smooth as silk. The break is clean and there is almost no over travel. I left the stock trigger return spring in both and the pull on them is 4-4.5 lbs. They shoot great.

Well worth the money.

Everything is relative. If you shoot the gun a lot then yes, or if you carry the gun yes. But if you have a dozen Tupperware guns, and just shoot them once a year, then no. It's a lot of money to invest in a gun on a percentage wise basis, unless you plan on keeping it, and really love it. You aren't likely to get it back, if you trade it off after a few months of a year.
Customizing anything is a risk, some people just want their stuff factory stock, and never fooled with, also some can't shoot well enough to make a difference, or just keep it as a house gun, in which case the stock action is adequate.
If you are a good shot, then you should get it done, especially if it's your carry. If not I would pass.

For reliability and durability, I would personally recommend against the lightened/Apex sear return spring, and trigger return spring. The rest of the stuff in the standard kit is good and durable. I have not tried the RAM as I really don't see the point for my purposes.

Just for the sake of clarity, I'd like to mention that the Apex Tactical trigger return spring in the D/C AEK isn't lighter, but rather heavier, than the stock spring.

Using the Apex Tactical trigger return spring usually results in a trigger pull weight of about 5.5 lbs; using the factory spring with the AEK will usually produce a 4.5 lb pull weight
