Would you refuse to go someplace based on whether or not you could carry a gun?

Would you refuse to see you're favorite artist in concert if you couldn't bring your gun? Would you refuse to visit the Grand Cañon unarmed?

What ever you like to do would you do it if you had to do it unarmed.

You can visit the Grand Canyon in Arizona while carrying concealed - you cannot go inside any of the federally owned buildings on site while armed. Love the Spanish style spelling.
As for the other, well, I follow the law.
 
It influences my behavior but it does not control it. I like going on cruises and visiting tropical beaches in winter. I can’t take my gun to do that, so the destination overrules my desire to be armed. On the other hand, I have pretty much voluntarily exiled myself from most of the US states banning carry unless I absolutely have to go there. Fortunately I’m usually just passing through and not going to them as a destination,

I hate concerts, even ones with artists I like, so that's an easy one.

I wouldn't refuse. I did visit it unarmed, in fact, back before Obama legalized carry there.

It all depends. It's always a consideration, but certainly not the only one. I've been to plenty of places, some of them quite dangerous (as in, the US Gov recommended that Americans not travel there) while unarmed. Fortunately, I don't have to make that decision very often, since almost everything I like to do either involves a gun or allows for the presence of one.
 
The places I go are, gun club, local gun stores, public land (to shoot). I don’t go to concerts, Fed buildings, I do carry in dentist/doctors offices when taking the wife or kids in. The only place I go where it’s not allowed would be the VA. I leave it in the truck.
 
I have a hard time with this question because I'm retired. There's no place I go except the VA that I can't carry. I won't jeopardize my VA benefits by carrying there.

I don't like concerts and I'm not barred from carrying a gun in Pike National Forest. I spent the night in the hospital a month ago. I left my gun at home rather than risk leaving it in my car all night.

Colorado is about to pass a law prohibiting carry in a church without explicit permission. If I don't get it I'm going to keep going to church.

No. I carry anyway whether it's prohibited or not UNLESS it's federal property, court houses, k-12 schools, and the like. I go to music concerts, festivals, sporting events, bars and lounges, Monster Trucks, plays, comedy shows, college campuses, malls, movie theaters, restaurants, work, etc....

With that said, I avoid states that I'm not allowed to carry in.

What's the penalty? Does the church have security? There have been an uptick in church shootings, and we all know of at least 4 viral and national church shootings and mass shooting that have happened in the recent past.

It seems Colorado is reacting the same way that other Democrat states have reacted to the Bruen ruling. I honestly even doubt that the law will stand in the long-run.

Not one bit. I hardly carry at all any more - living in the same suburb since 2009.

If I avoid some location or business, that business isn't ever going to know, or Care that I was Not there.
 
I do all the time. I'm not letting a tiny statistic stop me from doing what I want. I'll weigh the risk and act accordingly.
 
First we stay away from crowds for the last 30 plus years. Even works just fine during the China flue season. Croud lovers and city dwellers have the big decisions to make. You know if ya pulled your weapon at the big parade there was about 600 law enforcement watching and I'll bet they would have asked questions last. Confused for a bad guy is a bad way to go. I'm qualified to be an arm chair commenter.

It depends. As I wrote in another similar thread, there a was public hearing last Monday about the 4 solar power companies that have plans to install solar cell farms around the valley here, and it was being held in the local high school. I didn't want to miss out on an opportunity to make my voice heard (though I doubt it did much good), so I went - unarmed of course.
Also, our polling place for county, state and federal elections is in the local middle school, and I'm not about to not vote just because I can't legally carry a gun when I go to the polling place. o_O

Same with me. I left my gun locked in my truck when I visited the VA clinic last week. I occationally do the same thing when I visit the Social Security Office.

Probably not, however I simply can't think of an artist that I favor so much that whether or not I go to see him or her would depend on whether or not I could "bring a gun."

Been there already - no desire to go there again, armed or not. Now if you're talking about National Parks in general, we're not that far from Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, and we visit them armed quite often. In fact, just last month we rode with friends over to see the elk and bison in the Jackson Hole elk refuge (just south of Grand Teton National Park, and I think 3 of the 4 people in that car were armed. I know my wife and I were - just like we will be when we're in church tomorrow morning. :thumbup:

I carry wherever legal and avoid where I can't, but that doesn't really limit me much.

Hospital? That is a have to, not a choice and I try and pray not to have to.
Court? I only go if I have to and that would be rare, very rare; hope to keep it that way.
Post office? There are other options other than having to physically enter the post office majority of the time for me.
Concert? Last I went to was Loverboy in the 1980's; concerts typically happen at night and are crowded, neither factor appeals to me.
Ball game? I don't watch sports on TV; I would not go to a pro ball game if it was free and I could carry. I'm happily oblivious to sports.
Airplane? Last time I was on a plane was about the same as that Loverboy concert, I have driven on vacation for the last 35 years.
Cruise? I did that over 35 years ago, did not like, no thanks. Crowded floating petri dish.
Travel abroad? Nah. Even if I could carry I'm not boarding my dogs. Boarded dogs once over 10 years ago and I will never do it again; I felt like poop for doing it.

Three years ago I move from KY to FL, the area where we vacationed for 30 years; I literally live where I use to vacation.
I can walk down the street to the beach.
There are several festivals in town every year with live music, food, and they take place in the afternoon, no metal detectors, not crowded. That is my speed.

Nope, I go to concerts, sporting events and travel around the world. I’ll keep enjoying those things till I can no longer do so.

I am currently typing this as a civilian in the Middle East where the most I can come up with for SD is a pencil

It depends but for the most part I wont go. National Parks are not off limits to carry concealed. I won't go to any State that I cannot legally carry. ymmv

This is my feelings as well. I access what I think the threat level is and make my decision.
