Well on day 82 of my wait my Florida concealed weapons license finally arrived! Just thought Id share with everyone in case some of you thought the whole ccw thing was a urban legend! :) . For what its worth the people in Florida in charge of licensing were oddly pleasant to deal with and very helpful! Strange huh? Well it looks like Ill be starting a pocket/conceal carry collection. Wish me luck!

The Florida licensing folks are downright pleasant, cheerful, and will go out of their way to help. Received my CWP in 6 business days, and an email sent to their attention was answered promptly and with the number and name of a person to call should I experience any difficulties.

From start to finish, a class act.

I recently moved and was looking at Florida's web site to find information on the requirements of notifying them of a change of address. Took all of three minutes to find the info, and then a link to change it online. I found them very friendly and helpful when applying as well.

Day 82???? Sure does make that electronic fingerprint thing seem worthwhile, huh? Got mine in 6 days!!!:neener:

Welcome to the club...thank God for the Gunshine State!!!

here in the Gunshine State (Florida) gun registration is constutionally prohibited. There is no listing of your guns on your CCW.
Not all States list your guns on your CCW.
I'm sooo glad I escaped from NY.

in NY every pistol you get you have to put on your lisecense. you go to the pistol liscensing unit and they add the serial number and caliber to your liscense. is this not how its done in other states?

No...the REST of us live in FREE AMERICA.....:neener:

If you live outside of Florida and the state you live in recognizes Florida carry permits then you call or write Florida for a packet that includes the applications and the list of requirments. Meet the requirments and send the needed info back to the licensing dept. in Florida and they will start the process! Im sure there is a place online where you can request the packet.

Im glad to hear many of you had pleasent experiences with these people! If possible like others have said defintly go with the electronic fingerprints. I will admit though 14 of the 82 days(which included weekends & holidays) were most likely a result of them sending me a letter back requesting some more information. The cool thing about Florida is they are 5 year permits and they dont require anymore training when you need a renewel. The lack training again could be a bad thing for some though, For me I shoot alot and attend lots of training classes. Thanks for the kind words!
