The Thursday before Christmas I stopped by one of the pawn shops close to my house, on my way home from work. While in the shop a guy guy asked me what type of gun I carried. I told him that it was a Glock 22 4th gen. Then we started talking about the different guns we liked. He told me that he wanted to get another gun, but his wife said that he had to sell one first.
As we were talking another guy came in and wanted to trade his 22 rifle for a 30-30. The guy I was talking with said that he had an old 30-30 he wanted to sell. He said the sights were missing and it was rusty, but worked good. I asked him what he wanted for it and he said $80. I told him that I had to go pick up my boys, but would be at my house in about two hours, and if he brought it by I would buy it.
Around 7pm the guy showed up at the house with the rifle. I opened my wallet and saw that I had $90. I gave him the $90 and he said that he had only paid $75 for the rifle and now he was going to go buy him a new handgun.
So here are the pics of the rifle. It needs a little cleaning up and a new set of sights.

You like that box don't you gunny....Nice Winchester, give a little TLC and it will last forever.

Good deal gunny

That looks like my old winchester, it was my fathers and now it's mine. The oldtimer shows some wear but it still works fine. It has seen lots of service and has never failed me, if I did my part. This was my bad weather hunting rifle.I still shoot it sometimes, just to know it still works

That's a Hell of a deal. And to think I was jealous when my buddy picked up a pre safety '94 at the local pawn shop for 150.

I had one in similar condition - a post 64. We bead blasted it and did a Matte Black KG Guncoat on it. Made it nearly impervious to water. Somewhere along the line, it got Marbles Sights. I sold it last year for $350 which just about made it a break even, and I learned a lot along the way :)

You did good Gunny, i would have dropped 90 bucks for that in a heart beat.

By now I would have rubbed the rusted metal out with steel wool and WD-40.

Well I have many project rifles and many are already sitting on the back burner waiting for me to get to them.
I think I will wait till the Spring before I do any work on it.
I just added this one to my long list of project guns this pass Friday.

It's a P14 Enfield. It will take a little work to put it back in military dress.

Try bronze wool and light oil to clean that up with.

The bronze is harder than the rust but softer than the bluing.
