Just found a 13-3 3 inch like new

Hey, just found a 13-3 3inch like new. I had a 629-1 3 inch on lay-a-way at same shop but that was $850 and I was having a hard time justifying it. Not really into revolvers but wanted just one nice example. Today when I went to pick it up they just put a 13-3 in display case. The gun looks new although I can tell it has been fired. However, I have never had a Smith with such tight lock-up and 0 shake in the cylinder. Paid $400 no box. Can someone please tell me a date of birth. Serial # is Baf40##. Thanks, will try to get pics tonight next to my retired NYPD service gun and wife's.

Probably March - May of 1988. BAF prefix is not specifically listed so that time is a SWAG.

3" or 4" barrel? Them 3" guns are sweeeeeeet. I have one of each.

Thanks for the response, Have the S&W book at home, just have'nt gotten there yet, ( at work). The 13-3 is a 3 inch. I hope the 629- 3 inch I didnt get gets a happy owner.
My current service/duty gun is a Glock 23 and off duty Glock 27 which I absolutely love. Always carried a Smith model 10 in NY and wifey a model 64 NY1, for 20 years so have a real fondness for functioning 38's but I rely on the Glocks just as much. Brother in law just retired from NY and gave me his Ruger Police six in 38 special. His father retired in the 60's and gave me a model 10 thin barrel. Will try to line them all up and get picture.
