Well, I have been wanting a bolt .22LR for a while, and this caught my eye when it came out. Ordered it last night, should be here next week.

Ruger American Rimfire .22LR...full size with factory threaded barrel...

Now the question is what opticals. I like good glass but would like to stay under $200 to keep total cost under$500

Love my new nikon prostaff 3-9. Super clear and an he had for around 130$

I have savage mkii fvsr with a nikon prostaff suppressed that is easily the most enjoyable gun i own. I cant recomend the nikon enough.

Congratulations on the new American. Triggers seam very nice and you can't go wrong with those rotary mags.

I use a Nikon pro staff 4x Rimfire scope. Excellent glass and the reticles are perallex free at 50 yards. They usually run ~100- 110. You can easily spend more on a scope that will have more features but I don't miss them. Fortunately, there are plenty of options.

I know...nothing to be very proud of.

I think natchez had some blem vx1 and riflemen for under or around 200. U can get a 3-9 buckmaster for around that as well. Have one on an encore ML that has taken many 10's of deer for me over the years and ive never wanted for more.

Hawke makes a 3-9x40 specially designed for HV .22 with ranging dots out to 200 yards. I have Zeiss usually on my centrefire and Hawke on air rifles as they cater to the air heads in the UK and account for 80% of scope sales there (airguns are very common in the UK as no license is required) Side by side with the Zeiss the Hawke has nothing to be ashamed of.

Rated all cals
Great warranty
Etched illuminated reticle and designed for cheap .22 ammo
Under $200

Tahoe, what type of ammo were you shooting?
Just put a Mueller 4.5x14 on my wife's 10/22. First Mueller I own, pretty impressed, now to do a range test

The dam .22s are like potato chips; you can't stop with just one. I find I have a bunch of .22s and I like to use them.

On my CZ 452 I have a Leopold 2x7 rimfire scope, a 2x8 Bushnell on my custom 10/22 and Weaver 2.5x7 rimfire scopes on several others. Get the best scope you can afford. You won't be disappointed.

*It has been a little too windy here in the afternoon to sight the rifle in to my liking. I took it to an indoor 25yd range and got it pretty dialed in. Should this be pretty dialed in at 50yds also?

I went with the Vortex 4-14x40 for this rifel....maybe I should start a new thread.

I ordered a Boyd's stock a few weeks ago and it arrived yesterday. I went with the Rimfire Hunter in Pepper with the 90 degree gloss finish. I had read about a few people who had fitment issues with theirs as far as bedding blocks. My fitment was excellent. I took a nice firm press to install the bedding blocks into the stock. With the action screws torqued to spec the barrel is floated perfectly...close and evenly. I am thoroughly impressed for the money. I have already had two range sessions with it and I feel like I shoot it even better than before. The ergonomics are excellent and it is not bad looking either...
