Keltecs new 14 shot bullpup shotgun (neostead revived!)

A couple of thoughts jump to mind about this shotgun.

1. First and formost how reliable and durable will it be? Most gunmagazines are a very poor source for reviews. How many negative reviews do you see? The only two magazines IMO that might give an honest review are SWAT and Gun Tests.
2. In terms of replacing my home defense weapons, that is a very hard thing to do. The weapons I use have gone through extensive in my hands testing. I know that they are utterly reliable and are rugged and that I can trust my life to them. I am very disinclined to change them.

This shotgun has me curious and I may buy one but I am not in a huge rush. If it ends up being a solid weapon and has good sales, its quite possible Mossberg, Remmington, or Winchester may make something similar thus providing options.

as a lefty, I rarely get excited over bullpups, but a bottom ejecting bullpup is something I'm excited about. I'm not the bigest Kel-Tec fan, but I'm might have to check this one out.

Not being privy to the barnstorming sessions the Kel-tec engineers had; I would imagine that the reason they did not go with top mounted magazines like the Neostead has is that is is impossible to "shoot one, load one" with the Neostead as loading takes it completely out of commission until loading is completed.

For those who are unaware, the Neostead is a break-open design where the top mounted magazines are tilted up and loaded from the rear.

If they can only have it in production and on shelves quickly. With the way the RFB and their .22mag have been in terms of availability, I'll buy one when I see one, but I don't expect that to be before the Mayan's say the world will be over.

Your words may be prophetic; search for UTS-15 shotgun.

I've seen that, as well as the Monolith Arms P-12 and the SRM-16, however unless the KSG hits the market and makes a splash, I don't think we'll see any of these other designs being released.

Having a bunch of bullpup shotguns hitting the market and making noise would likely get the bigger manufacturers involved.

I'm not sure where you got that, but the SHOT show is all about publicity. There are visitors that do nothing but videotape every booth they visit while there.

Not being able to take pictures would negate the SHOT show's main reason for being.

Well we can't not post pictures of that interesting beast... but I dunno, this thing looks really complicated (= expensive).

Now the UTS 15 reminds me heavily of the Halo game's shotgun. Especially if it were 8 gauge.

It also looks pretty unwieldy.

I think he might be referring to this SHOT Show rule:
NO Photography – STRICTLY ENFORCED! Photography or video recording at the show is prohibited except by those with valid media badges or other authorized individuals. Surveillance equipment is in use 24/7.

I like the kel tec better as it looks cleaner. That looks unwieldy to me though it is good to see new designs bought to market.

Vaporware

Would love one, and would pay around $500-700. Maybe $800 if it gets rave reviews.

However, been waiting for a KT RFB since 2008... Have never even seen one in person.

Not holding my breath for the KT vaporware.
