I guess it might be part of jess getting old; or maybe just not bringing much ammo.

I decided to let my old SAA clones get to go WalkAbout and so took the Schmidt made 5½" 357 mag and also the 9mm Luger cylinder to the range. I just grabbed a handful of ammo to make sure all still worked since it has been at least two decades since any of the three revolvers had been shot. The two others are a 44Mag (but I usually shoot 44 Special) and a 45 Colt.

It was a loud day with several guys shooting AR type indoors at 25 yards so I likely would have left shortly any way. Shot 5 with the 9mm Luger cylinder and then 10 rounds of 38 S&W Special. Decided it was time to walk away.

Looks like it still works. Next will be the 44 Special and then the 45 Colt. I'm pretty sure I still have partial boxes of ammo stored is a safe place and once I remember where that is it will be back to the range.

I didn’t quite until my gun started fouling up.

testing my CZ P-07 with Supressor and was having so much fun! but I did test my fire breathing Ruger Six 6” and I can’t get that gun to group worth a lick!

btw OP: bring tons of targets to a indoor range! it’s like taking Mulugen in Golf! Nobody will ever know!!!

I mean, once you've punched all 5 through the 10 ring, why waste more ammo?

While I know it's not always possible for those who have to shoot at a indoor range, I've found that continuing to back up, will sometimes take that smirk off my face, or even humble me. Same can be said when changing from COM to a particular spot on the target. But then, I like to shoot when I take the time to go to the range.

That said, good shooting.

Shooting at a silhouette target aiming at the head at 25 yards with my S&W 25-15 .45 Colt I fired one round. It hit where I was aiming, right between the bad guy silhouettes eyes.
I pulled the target in and put my revolver back in the case. There’s no way I could do that again so I quit shooting that revolver right then and there for the day.
That reminds me. I kept that target. I will have to see if I can find it.

Sometimes you just gotta leave ‘your best’ alone.

I've been known to shoot a great first group with a particular gun, then pack it up and put it away.

I've put exactly 6 shots through a Model 10-7 2" snub I bought last year. The first range trip all six in the 10 ring and the last shot dead center of the red. Shortest range trip I ever had but what was the point of staying? BTW, I never shoot that well.

Was at the range one time with a friend and a friend of my friend. Now the friend of my friend was a pretty good gunsmith and S&W tuner, making for some very smooth and slick DA triggers. He also liked to load his ammo a little bit on the hotter side of things. It was nearing the end of the night and he had 5 rounds of his reloads left so he handed me his Model 19 (2 1/2" barrel), and said check it out. So I did, putting all 5 rounds, rapid fire, in the black at around 30 feet! I turned around, thanked him for the opportunity to try that out, reeled in the target, folded it up, and took it home with me!

Wasn't going to get any better than that!

Enjoyed the post, and I laughed out loud at the portion I quoted in bold above. To me, that would be like getting in my car, backing out of the driveway, and pulling back into my next-door neighbor's driveway which is right next to mine, so I could tell him something. I can yell over the fence more easily . I wonder if their groups were as tight as yours.

I've had targets that while I was shooting I thought "man, I'm going to hang this on the wall" and then on the last shot screwed up the whole thing with a flier that was barely on the paper.

Been there done that....5 good ones, then a flyer on the 6th 'cause I was tryin' too hard. There've been a bunch of them over the past 60 years, and while all were memorable, this one really hurt.

That's my 4-5/8" bbl'd Ruger .44 Special right after I re-stocked it with some fancy cocobolo I worked up. The load was Skeeter's favorite: a good 240 gr LSWC over 7.5 gr. of Unique for ~975 fps. I shot this target at 25 yds, and was 61 years old when I did it.

While I do sort of remember the first five punching through, I'LL NEVER FORGET THAT FLYER OVER AT 5 O'CLOCK, as long as I live! Best regards Rod

Always finish on a positive note.

For me, it seems a given that I’ll chunk a shot, usually around shot 4-5.

I just shot this 10-shot target today, firing DA at 10. Five sighters in the center oval, then one in each black. (Fired top to bottom, starting on the left side) You guessed it, shot #4 went high.

To me, it’s not just about shooting perfectly.

Often, as we are human, it is how you come back from a misplaced shot that makes for a fun and successful range trip. :D

Stay safe.

Those one shot groups are really tight.

I think the Bullseye ring is 4.5mm, darn tiny!

They are 10m air rifle targets. I bought a bunch for the marksmanship team, but these are too large to fit in the CMP-Orion scoring boxes. So I use them to plink around with.

I’m also breaking in some new prescription shooting glasses, I think I figured out the lenses. :D

Stay safe.

Years ago, I knocked down 5 steel chickens at 50 yds with 5 shots DA with a .44 Spl revolver in about 6 seconds.
My friends yelled, "Do that again", but knowing the first time was 90% luck, I shoved the gun in my range bag.
"Out of ammo", I said!

Yes, sir! Nice group; I have trouble shooting offhand that well at 15yds!
