If you knock and then turn my door knob, you better be prepared to get shot.
If you shoot someone for this, you better be prepared to spend the next 25 with a cellmate named Bubba.
Not necessarily....
In NC it is legal to shoot someone to prevent them from entering your home IF you believe that they are entering in order to rape, murder, or commit a felony (such as armed robbery).
I was thinking about what to if this happens again.
There are two schools of thought here:
A)Don't answer the door , wait for my dog to do the talking
B)Answer the door
C)Get wireless intercom system (may still have to open the door if someone claims it's a emergency)
A man should not be afraid to answer his own door.
Just use some precaution and common sense...
A locked "storm door" is a great option as it affords a barrier between you and the person on your front porch, yet it allows you to see them and the front yard and communicate easier than through a thicker solid door.
But if you can't add a storm door then at least use the peep-hole and have them ID themselves before opening the door.
If it's a salesman you can say "no thanks, please leave now" throught the door without ever opeing it.
ALWAYS have a handgun when answering the door.
I carry even when I'm at home so that no matter when I am (bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, basement, garage, etc....) I always have a handgun with me.
Yeah, I'm a little paranoid, but I grew up in a rough place.
